Heres a concept...if you dont like it, dont do it.
I like to play the way I want. Same as you. Difference is I dont try to make everyone play the way I do.
But as others have mentioned there is a weight system being designed.
I am guessing our inventories will look like a trader's does with a large scrolling grid of squares and different backpacks will just alter the total weight you can carry and not the number of squares of inventory you get. So even if you have more squares available the limiting factor with be total weight you can carry atm.
I can see him possibly making it an option players can choose but the main reason behind adding it is to lower the performance hits players get when they have too many bags/items. Personally I'm fine with either way but would prefer to have the bags have a limit on amount of layers.
I do agree that it is a choice each individual has the right to make - you bought the game so play how you want
Sh!t kills me. Playing a game about the zombie apocalypse and complain about bags in bags not being real enough.
Oh well, when the weight system is emplemented I will move on. I got more than my moneys worth. It was a good run...
So a player is not limited by number of inventory squares available, but instead will be limited by total weight and so bags/backpacks with higher weight limits in essence allow a player to access more of the grid through the mere fact they can carry more.
This system would also prevent the need to nest backpacks and bags as we do that now for more 'squares', but with a scrolling grid you will always have enough squares, it will be the weight you are worried about. And if a player does nest (like dry bags inside a backpack for organizing food/water) those nested bags would not add their weight capacity to the weight capacity of the backpack it was being carried in for a greater overall total weight capacity. Instead the weight of any nested bag and its contents would merely be considered as part of the total carried weight.
This approach could be used for any container and would also help players in that, with a scrolling trader like grid, you could just put stuff in without having to precisely arrange everything because you need a certain inventory square configuration. Plop it in until the weight limit is met.
Great for those 'gotta loot before that zed horde decides to eat my brainzs for lunch' situations.
So just a suggestion.
It can be optional in a setting but for it to be openly used all the time is just bad... I have tried to have self control over it but time and time again I always accidentally use another bag within a bag for more space to cheese loot runs..
Weight system is a bad idea still though.. Just increase bag space vastly and toggle limit in settings if bag within bags are allowed.
DONT ADD WEIGHT SYSTEM PLZ
(You can after all put 4 bags inside another bag irl as long as the outer bag's big enough.)
