Oh yaaaaaa, FEAR 3 sucked dem balls alright, FEAR 2 wasn't bad at all not as good as FEAR 1 but not bad.
For some reason ppl didn't like the FEAR 1 two expansion packs but I like those fine.
FEAR 3 is the worst of the bunch though.
The gunplay is more kinetic in the first game, a better sense of feedback and weight from your attacks.
Thicker smoke and debris, more forceful reactions from enemy bodies upon death. Adds depth and a sense of power to your attacks.
FEAR 2 excelled on pacing, story presentation and telling, characters and dialog.
Also improved pacing from location variety and direction.
Each game is great. They have their own strengths and weaknesses. I love both, but I was disappointed to find the melee combat in FEAR 2 felt almost nerfed as enemies no longer were knocked back when hit with a flying scissor kick.
They simply fell over.
But, most people look at FEAR 2 with "disappointment" for the same reason people look at other Monolith sequels with a small amount of letdown.
From NOLF 2 to Condemned 2, it happens almost every time Lith makes a sequel.
And this is because Monolith nails these exciting new games. Only forcing themselves to follow up an amazing experience. And it's hard to follow such a thing and still try to outdo it.
