The primary issue is the core shooting as seen a notable downgrade, The particle effects, dust, explosion waves compared to the first game do not light up the environment in as satisfying a manner as the first game. Likewise movement isn't as strong here, there is a noticeable moment between stopping pressing a button and your character not moving anymore. The engagements with how the environement and ai work together is a noticeable step down here as well. Then they also ignore the two expansion from the first game just so they can essentially tell the same story again with a twist at the end.
Overall I wouldn't say F.E.A.R 2 is a bad game, I would say it is a solid shooter overall. But it is a very sub standard follow up to the first game and doesn't really bring across the kenetic action or atmosphere (minus the school) from the first game. This would be less of an issue if it brought much new to the series, but here it kind of flonders with it filling more like a stripped down experience that doesn't overall feel as good when compared to the first release.
