F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin

F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin

This Game is Boring!
I played the original FEAR and it's DLC. It was old fashioned but cool, biggest gripe was the overuse of office building locations. I finally decide to play the sequel and within minutes I'm back in an office building looking at the same type's of environments.

The environments is what makes the FEAR games I've played boring, or should I say repetitive/monotonous. Seeing little ghostly apparitions every now and then only adds a nugget of variety.

It does start off a bit monotonous, but after the main big office section, the enviroments are a lot more varied.

I agree, I played it just for 2 hours and it is a bit boring, even because some of interesting mechanics are disappeared like the possibility to bend yourself in order to shoot from angles and free quicksaves ... but honestly, I found boring even the first FEAR too, al least in the last hours of gameplay

There is nothing special about FEAR series.
FEAR 1 is just mediocre, booring and monotonous. It has gray offices that try to look like warehouses and labs sometimes, it has 3 viable guns, because other guns are rare and there is no point in picking them up just for ammo saving torment. There is one enemy type - soldiers. Other ebemies are rare as well. The plot is booring, it looks just like if they already had standard shooter finished and then slapped a piece of "horror" story on top of it.
Oh, totally forgot about bad hit registering for shotguns. Half of my shots go through enemies and kick fountains of dust from walls right behind them.
FEAR 2 is the best, comparing to fear 1 and 3, pretty fun to play and has variative gameplay.
FEAR 3 is just console anime, with stupid facepalm drama. But it is better than fear 1.

The good thing is all of these games are short and they don't take much time to beat them.

8 hours of gameplay here: still a boring FPS.
Ok, I has some good thing like a challenging A.I. and the possibility to use a mecha at a certain point, but overall there is literally no variety in gameplay, enemies, situations and enviroments ... it is like to be stuck in a sort of limbo in which you play the same (first) al the time.

Do not hate me, but back then I prefered Doom 3 a billion times over than the first FEAR and speaking about FEAR 2, imho there are a lot of more interesting games of that period, for example the first two extremely underrated Bioshocks.

In each game there are players which like it and dislike it. I like the campaign and also multiplayer.

Especially the Elementary school level. The most atmospheric and best designed one in the whole series imho.
