I did and do not regret it.
FEAR 1 is just mediocre, booring and monotonous. It has gray offices that try to look like warehouses and labs sometimes, it has 3 viable guns, because other guns are rare and there is no point in picking them up just for ammo saving torment. There is one enemy type - soldiers. Other ebemies are rare as well. The plot is booring, it looks just like if they already had standard shooter finished and then slapped a piece of "horror" story on top of it.
Oh, totally forgot about bad hit registering for shotguns. Half of my shots go through enemies and kick fountains of dust from walls right behind them.
FEAR 2 is the best, comparing to fear 1 and 3, pretty fun to play and has variative gameplay.
FEAR 3 is just console anime, with stupid facepalm drama. But it is better than fear 1.
The good thing is all of these games are short and they don't take much time to beat them.
Ok, I has some good thing like a challenging A.I. and the possibility to use a mecha at a certain point, but overall there is literally no variety in gameplay, enemies, situations and enviroments ... it is like to be stuck in a sort of limbo in which you play the same (first) al the time.
Do not hate me, but back then I prefered Doom 3 a billion times over than the first FEAR and speaking about FEAR 2, imho there are a lot of more interesting games of that period, for example the first two extremely underrated Bioshocks.
then give up now and go play something else ;p
Especially the Elementary school level. The most atmospheric and best designed one in the whole series imho.
