Sound issues
Decided to play FEAR 2 again, DLed it, opened etc. but the sound doesn't work properly.

I can hear the talking from my AI allies, i can hear my shooting, reloading etc. basically everything i do i can hear, but everything else has no sound, enemy gunfire has no sound, enemy yelling, breaking things etc. no sound at all.

Tried using surround sound with no luck.
Any help?

Same exact problems for me, played it previously on win 7 with no issues. Set the sound volume to default and the rest of the settings didn't do anything. Not sure what this problem is related to. Not using a sound card. Am on win 10 now.

No sound from smashing windows and no sound from enemy gunfire. Possibly no sound from their footsteps either. Tried verifying game files, nothing.

--------

Turns out the sound has to be maxed or damn near max to hear it, the volume levels are completely off for some reason.

OK, perhaps somebody will find this helpful when stumbling upon it - I found on another forum that in-game, you can just go to Sound Settings and reset it to default settings - that brought the missing sounds for me. Bear in mind that this game isn't that well mixed for surround sound and apparently expects you to play at fairly loud in order to hear it properly on, say, 5.1 speakers.

Thanks dude, by configuring my headphones to emulate 5.1 this fixed the missing sounds and volume while playing F.E.A.R 2 for me. The game forces 5.1 audio channels, regardless of the Windows setting.

Same problem here, i set the sounds back to default in game, and adjusted the volume on my headset to a comfortable volume for me, and it appeared all the sounds propagated correctly. THANKS!
Just to second this I reset to default and changed the audio for the game via volume mixer and that fixed.
