How to release Loddles into the open ocean?

I'm trying to complete my remaining achievements and I'm unsure as to how to release a Loddle into the open ocean. I thought releasing it in the areas between habitats would work but I was wrong. Any ideas?

The "Release" button in the Loddle Info Menu (the menu that appears when you check on a loddle) should appear after you've filled a biome full of loddles. Dave will tell you something about the need to release loddles, and then once you check on a loddle again, you'll have the option to release it!
