problem with AMD Radeon RX78000 XT OC

game causes Radeon RX 7800XT OC grafics card to run on 1000 FPS und burns the grafics card. over 80°C.

You could go into "Options/Graphics" and turn "Sync" on. That should sync it to your monitor rate. You could also "Limit FPS" to your monitor max or maybe half. See if that helps and does it still look good. If that works and the GPU is cool enough for you go for it. If you still need to drop some heat you could look at feeding cooler outside air to the GPU. Some times installing a fan feeding outside air over the card helps.

There is a frame-limiter in game that works fine for me, also in the menu, but I agree, this could be switched to 120 FPS as a presetting on first start of game. (I'm also wondering if anybody needs more than 120 FPS in such kind of game)

Edit: Strange, for me in the GOG Version the limiter doesn't allow me to set anything other than in between 10 to 200 FPS (and works fine, for me), so I'm wondering how 1.000 FPS are even possible.

My son tells me sometimes he sees very high (possibly 1000) FPS in a game menu but not while playing. He plays different games. Somewhere along the way I got the impression RE2 will use all the GPU will give it unless set otherwise.

I have a 144Hz monitor running at 3840x1600 with an Geforce RTX 3060 and limit my FPS to 72. It looks fine to me but I rarely zoom in very close. While playing my GPU runs in the mid 60s. At idle it is low 30s.
