Campaign 3, optional task impossible

In the third campaign, the optional task to buy your competitor's company (based in Denver) cannot be completed. The ability to buy stock and merge companies remains disabled, throughout.

I think the option was disabled (grey) when I held a bond and gold when the bond was paid. I will have to double check.

If you load the save after the option becomes available, it locks again. At least, that's how I encountered this bug on the xbox pass.

I was having the same issue what fixed it for me was to save game shut down game completely then start it up and load save then i was able to buy shares and finish the optional tasks

I had same issue, I kinda focused later on other optional tasks. After completing them, and restarting the game, I could buy out competitor again.

I've been fighting the same thing. I've had lots of bugs in this chapter. Sometimes the cities wouldn't found because they wouldn't accept the goods needed - my trains just stay waiting at the rural stations because they won't load what's not demanded - reloading several times finally got me through that. I saved after finishing the Raton weapons section. When I came back and loaded to continue neither New Mexico nor Texas required buying to open. I build LOTS of railways, stations, and lines, then Bam! out of the blue suddenly I'm looking at my tracks and stations through the white slashes with it saying I need to buy to open them back up. Huh? My stations and trains are running fine under the block - I just can't build more. But, it's this bug that's killing me. I've saved and reloaded and restarted the game a whole bunch, but every time I go in it says the buy shares is not currently possible.

I'm playing on Steam (hence the forum). I took a screenshot, but I'm not exactly sure what that's going to tell you. It just shows the grey coin where the buy shares button on the 1 opponent company is with a popup of "Trading company shares currently not possible." How else am I supposed to buy the company? I'll try to post and share the screenshot if you really do want it for some reason.

Same issue on PC... Killed my score as I had completed other tasks several years ahead of time. Also had issues with founding deliveries to Demmings. All but one grain delivered and then grain would not ship or unload in Demmings. Finally completed founding requirement buy shipping the EXACT number of grain remaining to Demmings [one carload]. Have seen this in other instances where the last carloads seem to be rejected until something triggers acceptance.

I have done this and the answer was something like : "We allready know that bug".

So why do you keep asking for savegames with this bug ?
When will you you fix it?

Yup, that's what I got. They've got separate people dealing with the forums and submissions. However, I did get a "thanks, we'll look into it" on my ticket regarding the building contract necessity disappearing and reappearing for TX and NM. [shrug & sigh]
