The one thing I really miss on waterheavy maps - Train-Ferrys
I really like those European maps, especially Scandinavia. It would be such a blast if the railway models would turn into a Ferry as soon as the bridge-distance over water becomes ridiculous. A separate station with harbour would even be more satisfying.

Anyone else likes trains on water without endless bridges?

Would be a great addition.

This isn't how trains work in the real world though. The Chunnel, for example, heck even the Russia/Crimea bridge.

Well today bridges and tunnels are much more common because they are affordable. In the Steamtrain era there were quite a lot of Waterways that where only accessible by ferry,

Well alright, I can definitely see how this would be a more fun addition in places that still today aren't connected by rail bridge, like the UK and Ireland, it annoys the crap out of me in game these are just linked up with bridges lol. I could see why it would be more fun to have a ferry station near Dublin and Hollyhead that passengers/freight have to be sent to to transport to the other....

Yeah. Especially with Britain, the baltic and the north sea it always feels strange to draw ocean-filling bridges. ;-)
