Connection bonuses

So I'm playing the 1st mission in the campaign. I see on the map that several locations have available connection bonuses. So I build a station at each of those spots, and then lay track from those stations to connect to my track network. But NO payoff. The connection bonus icon remains.

What gives? Have they redefined "connection" to mean something other than station + track + link to rail network? Or are they waiting for at least one train to go from there to somewhere else in the network?

Looks like you only get the bonus after having a train complete the line using the station which makes sense since in the first game it was easy to abuse the connection bonuses for free money.

You have to make a delivery to collect the bonus, just connecting is not enough.

Oh this is funny. I am glad they changed it too. I always felt a bit evil when I'd connect a rural location to my network, get bonus, then delete it :D

Same. It's no longer as easily exploited, which is good

It feels partially bugged. I have connected industries with a warehouse and the warehouse to cities. I am not getting the connection bonus but I'm seeing the goods numbers changing on the warehouse...

Correct. You only get the bonus for making the delivery to a city. Not to a warehouse (even if there's a connection from the warehouse to a city).

And I confirmed that it was delivered.
But I did not receive the bonus. Whyyyyy

Maybe the time ran out .. I have never had an issue. I always create a route afterward to a city. After the first OUTBOUND delivery, I have always been paid.

I got a total of $1250k in bonuses while doing the 1st set of Tasks for Chapter 1, either for connecting certain Cities (within a time limit) or for delivering goods for the first time to Cities: $250k each to connect 2 Cities, $250k to deliver Sugar, $250k to deliver Cloth, $125k to deliver Lumber, and $125 to deliver Meat.

When I FINISHED the 1st set of Tasks and started on the 2nd set of Tasks, I got another $750k bonus. For a max total of $2000k or $2 Million, on top of your starting Capital, by the time you start on the 2nd set of Tasks. This can be done by April 1830, or sooner.

I got NO Bonus for anything in the 2nd set of Tasks, or for finishing them all and starting on the 3rd set of Tasks.

In that Game, I finished the 1st Set of Tasks a few days into April, which is when I got the additional $750k, for a total of $2000k or $2 Million in bonuses.

I have restarted Chapter 1 and want to do the 1st 2 Sets of Tasks even Faster than I did in that game.

I restarted the game and looked at everything on the Map,

and this is my result $ 2750K in total Bonuses for the 1st Set of Tasks in Chapter 1.

We only start with $ 2500K in cash plus the Boston Station.

You can get these done no later than April 1830, possibly even in March 1830.

I think that getting the 1st Set of Tasks done before the end of 1st Quarter has to be about as good as it is possible to do, because of the time needed for Boston's population to grow to 25K.

I got the 320 Passengers to Portland Task done on 24 Feb 1830, well before the Boston 25k Pop Task on 29 March 1830.

I used Passengers from New York City, Albany, Syracuse and Buffalo dropped off in Boston for transport to Portland to speed up that Task.

I was confused because I was not receiving Connection Bonuses even after deliveries were being completed. I eventually tried switching the station of origin to the one in the new station I was establishing, and that worked for me.
