Railway Empire 2
Is it really that bad?
I'm shocked to see mostly negative reviews. Is it really that bad?

I really liked the random map generator in the first one. Is that feature missing?

No random maps, at least not right now. There are 'Custom Games', so you can start in different places.

I am not surprised that you are seeing a lot of bad reviews. The people who like it are probably too busy playing it. Give it a few days and the reviews will be more accurate.

I'm going to buy it. I love automation games. I love train games. Seems like a no brainer. Orbital Potato seemed to like it.

I have it on game pass and I don't see how it's bad. I can see why some people might be opinionated due to some of the changes and the price to pay for them.

Game is good, don't fall with negative reviews to hard.

I've played for a couple hours and would not give it a bad review, Some things I like better than RE1, some things not so much. Nicer graphics, better stations with additions, better personnel handling. Track building is very similar, not thrilled with the auto signals but they do work. My mouse speed is a gazzilion miles a second, (annoying). But all in all I'm happy.

People loved getting a 1to1 copy of Transport Fever. So it seems kinda harsh to punish this game so hard.
The game is fun in the few hours I played. TF2 is so damn easy, so I hope this will have some longer term challenge then a few hours. Servering 8 platforms with a single line is very good. Very easy to setup, but this game is not for sandbox builders.

But it is on Gamepass so nothing to loose.

The 85% score seems a bit ambitious from Gamestar, but maybe once everything completely clicks it makes sense.

I agree, the game is good. I just played for about 5 hours. Finished all the tutorials and started the campaign. I would like the ability to put down manual signals, but the game play is solid to this point. The actual missions are different from the orignal, though there are not a whole lot of them (5 campaigns, 14 missions it seems). No idea how long those take at this point.

No.

There's some overreaction to be sure. Zero complaints on performance from me. It has new concepts. Stations work totally different than what RE1. Track laying seems fiddly at first but it's actually really intuitive and you can create some really crazy junctions that you'd kill for in RE1. So far, I'm enjoying it. The one thing I do miss from RE1 is the detailed terrain features and little details. Great Britain is probably the best example. Compared to RE1, it feels barren and featureless. Maybe because they opted for a consistent scale with RE2 some of that couldn't be brought along. Overall, glad I got it and I seldom buy games on release.

Trying it out now... oh my gosh I love it! The scale/speed is so much better than before.

unfortunately im hugely disappointed. No easy track mode, complex planning is not possible due to braindead train AIs, no HRmanagement anymore, overall gamespeed feels more like transport fever and so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ slow, not like Railway Empire 1 anymore. You sit there waiting and doing nothing like 30-60 Minutes till you get any money at all. The UI and general design has lost most of its 1800 USA charm and got replaced with a generic TF2 gameplay and look. So I am seriously considering a refund, I am really not happy with this game and extremely sad... They ditched the railroad tycoon ideas and replaced them with transport fever all over...

Do trains still wait for busy station tracks even though an empty track is available?

Been playing it on Gamepass.

I love RE1, I'm enjoying RE2.

Can't say I prefer it over the original, so I kinda understand the complaints - but I do am enjoying it as a change of pace, and some of the changes are interesting.

Ugly and worse than RE1. Would refund instantly if I only could.
