On your network the given route can't be made (there is no route for the train in order to make the journey that you asked for when setting up the rail line). In some way the route isn't okay: either by missing connections, or by opposed directions (=signals). So:
- check if the route which you entered while creating the railline is correct (maybe you added a stations that should not be there and has no connection with the other stations);
- check if you have gridirons where needed;
- check if al the track are provided with the correct directions (or allow both directions if needed)
- check if there are (small) missing pieces of track; you (the game) are able to miss a connection point and in that way don't have an connection, but two seperate dead-end pieces of track.

If it is then I see no way I can get two tracks to Sacramento There is too many tracks in the way I am wondering if I demolish some of the tracks, would the tutorial allow that so I can get the tracks I need.
I'm getting closer, but the screen won't let me purchase a locomotive
Sorry, but this is very frustrating
This looks like a terrific game and it would be such a waste if I am not able to play it
I played the tutorial. You are stuck around the point that you have to make two (double) tracks (connections):
one from 'Brown' (grain) to Sacramento and
one from 'Howard' (wood) to Sacramento.. ???
If so:
If I follow the instructions I don't have any problem. If I 'play a little around' (doing things not asked at that moment) I get lost and the 'Van de Zwaag' type doesn't show up. (Later I get a change to pick up where I was left).
It's hard to tell what is going wrong, but I still think that the setup of one or both connections isn't correct. Did you made double track, made gridirons at both ends and set the correct direction of the tracks? If you have (small) sections with single track, to be used in both directions arn't they set in one direction by mistake?
Most common mistake that I make is to forget to set a gridiron at one of the ends. (So a train departs from (i.e.) track 1 and arrives on track 2 without the option to restart it's trip; 'the circle isn't closed').
There are several ways to make the two connections. I think that all are 'good' and
let you go on with the tutorial. The tutorial only checks at the moment that the cargo is arriving at Sacremento.
If the tracks don't allow your 'rail lines' (your two trains) to make a complete 'round-trip' (from A to B and back to A) you can't finish the setup of that line. It seems to me that your trouble with this tutorial starts there.
Hope it helps. (Don't give up; it's indeed a beatiful game. The video's from Adekyn are very good, but maybe a little bit fast for starters. Taking a second look doesn't hurt).
I will keep you posted
Screenshot?
So I did everything I connected two tracks from Portland ME to Boston.
I set up the two gridirons and the two supply towers So I go to start the rail line by attempting to purchase the grasshopper and it won't let me buy it.
