Unhandled Exception: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION reading address 0x0000000000000000
Has anyone who got this crash reason been able to fix it? Any time I load any savegame (autosave or otherwise) it CTDs about 4 seconds after the loading screen appears. Everything I've seen on Google about this error is about Unreal Engine trying to call an address that doesn't exist, which would be good information except it still crashes the same way upon reinstall, after verifying files, the whole nine. It's like there's a corrupt Unreal Engine file SOMEWHERE causing havoc that I cannot for the life of me find.

Any thoughts?

this unreal engine crash is simply something wrong with the game itself. its not your rig. every solution people say doesn't fix it.
whats more annoying is everyone will say 'well i dont have the problem, why don't you learn to use a computer?" which will frustrate you further.

The developers made a post about an upcoming patch this week and that post mentions fixing game crashes. hopefully that is for these unreal engine crashes... otherwise we will have to wait until the game is fixed.

don't bother trying to fix it yourself. trust me. its some issue with the game itself. if its working for 90% of people without issues doesn't mean there isn't a problem.

Fair, it just sucks cause I was 21 hours in on that save file before it started running into this issue. The most recent save I can load is from 4 hours in so I guess I'll just backup all my saves and see if I can install on my wife's computer and keep playing there. If not, I'll wait and pray for next week's patch to fix it. I've been really enjoying the game so far at least.

Thank you so much for posting this answer, I had just done this quest at the end of my last session, so I only lost a few minutes worth of progress once I figured out which auto-save i could go back to

This is ABSOLUTELY the answer. I'm now about 28 hours in on my backup save and ignoring that specific quest, I've had NO issues since then!

is it known if this will be fixed in the next patch? like, i have played plenty after this mission before exiting the game and looking through the qs takes ages bcuz of the long startup time due to the shader stuff 😅

Well funny enough, I'm only getting this AFTER the patch. Lol.

Me too, 25 hours with v1.0, no crashes (only one slowdown to 2 fps), now 2 of these crashes in 15mins with v1.1, now I will wait until the next patch or hotfix

100%. I've got about 8.5 hours of time in 15 minute increments because that's
the longest I can stay playing. Prior to the patch, I was getting some low level fatal errors constantly. No fixes, no google tech troubleshooting tips posted by the devs, nothing fixed it. Except this patch did!

Instead of the low level fatal error, now I am getting some other exception address error all the time.

This game is fun for the 10-15 min chunks I play it in. I am definitely glad I went with gamepass instead of paying for this though. Ooof. There are no endearing qualities because "this is just the way stalker is".

What hardware do you have? GPU/CPU/RAM
If you're on nvidia, have you downloaded the latest game ready driver?
Maddox Dec 4, 2024 @ 7:31am
Same thing....Before patch never crashed once, or had any kind of issue with anything. Now after "patch" I crash after couple mins of being loaded in.
