Game Doesn't Start
Downloaded the game on the drop date, waited the couple of hours it took to download, then it started with a crash screen. Before the game even starts, it crashes. I went to the support page and went through all the steps multiple times over the past few days and still can't figure out how to solve the problem. Put in an official request but the emails back and forth with support are slow since we are likely on different sides of the world. I just wanna play the freaking game after waiting for 10 years. My computer is fully capable to run on extreme graphics, so it's not my computer specs. 32 gb ram, which is plenty, Intel core i7-14650HX, which is plenty good, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060, Which is also plenty good. I've tried launch commands (-dx11/12, -d3d12) I don't know what any of those do, but they don't help. I reinstalled the game 5 times now all in one run and nothing helps. Do I really just need to wait for the first few hotbfixes to solve the problem? I'd rather be finding silly in game bugs...

If you haven't sent a report to devs at support.stalker2.com , I advise you to do so. Best shortcut to get your issue fixed.

I said in my post that I did in fact send a report. It's a tough back and forth because they are in a different country, so it's kind of slow and i'm looking for a fix that maybe somehow I haven't seen yet.

Post the entire crash error message and callstack.

Do you have Nvidia Game Ready Driver 566.14 installed ?
Is it crashing ?
Is your laptop plugged in power socket (i.e. is the battery recharging) ?
Is Power Plan set to High performance ?
Did you try to remove %LOCALAPPDATA%\Stalker2 files just in case it got corrupted somehow ?
The Earth King Nov 23, 2024 @ 9:44am
yes, I did all of that. Driver is up to date and so is Windows 11.
Arc Nov 23, 2024 @ 9:50am
Up to date as in 566.14 ? note that there is a reason why I am asking for specific number and not "latest" as the answer.

DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED means the D3D device (the user mode driver, or the GPU itself) got removed from the engine, probably because it crashed.

This can be triggered by any number of things such as unstable core clock, unstable power delivery, but also driver level features such as DLSS, FSR, etc.

Yes. I have the driver updated to 566.14. It says it's compatible with stalker 2 specifically and is game ready. Normally when I play a bigger game like stalker anomaly, my laptop likes to breathe really hard because it's working. it never has overheated problems because i give it good cool air, but it doesn't even start to "breathe" when i start to start stalker 2. It just starts with the error message. The symbol for the game does appear for about half a second on the task bar before disappearing and being replaced by the crash report.

I wonder if this is a bogus error. Have you updated BIOS yet ?
The Earth King Nov 23, 2024 @ 12:50pm
Yes. Gonna try a hard reset of my laptop tonight and see if that fixes it. It's the only thing I haven't tried. Although a bunch of other people seem to have the same problem and are finding fixes here and there. Too bad for me I guess.

Same here, one user in another thread recommended to delete a dx12 file (amd_fidelityfx_dx12.dll) and use -dx11 as a launch option. That allowed me to launch the game to the main menu, but I get another similar error after actually start a new game.

My friend is having unrelated/related issue with the screen tearing horribly, it's not even tearing its like up scaling and down scaling randomly. Something is wrong with the build of the game and the way it's detecting our drivers.

This isn't the only UE5 game with this issue either, Project: Borealis also had crash on launch issue when it first released. Their build of the game had a basic version of Vulkan implemented so the temporary fix was to use a vulkan launch option to actually open the game. They also recommended a power plan launch option.

My solution? Wait for a patch, see what happens. Refund if you never get to experience the game.

yeah unfortunately every time I try running it... it's technically on for a few seconds. I've tried so many times I got a card for "playing the game" and i'm passed the 2 hours. I have faith that they'll fix it eventually, so I'm never gonna return it. Huge fan so I'm bummed, but willing to wait an extra month on top of the 10 ish years i've waited already. lol

I have the same problem . I can't even run the game. I tried all the methods on the net but the issue not solved. Do you find any solution?
