The OTHER secret of electric orbs
So, most of us probably know by now that the wandering electric anomalies actively chase the player if wearing any artifacts, or follow a route otherwise.

What I (and I think many others) didn't know yet, is WHY.

I casually stumbled into the answer (not my video, just found it on YT):

https://youtu.be/X2xaelFhriE?si=wTt6QtCdImfAiPHv

For those who don't want to click: the orb reaches for the artifact and "EATS" it.

Now, this is at the same time cool, creepy, and "why tho?"

I mean, why would we ever do this on purpose? Even if there's no other way to escape, it's less cost-effective than just taking a hit.

Fine, the link leads to a YT short showing that if you drop an artifact on the ground (it's a Battery in the video, I have yet to test with non-electric artifacts), the electric orb will disregard you, go to the artifact and "consume" it by floating on it for a few seconds, then go away and return to its path, at which point the artifact will have been destroyed.
Nice one mate. I had not realised that electric anomalies chase the player because they were wearing artefacts. I certainly didn't know that electrical anomalies 'eat' your artefacts.

I have to agree with your overall assessment.... it is both cool and creepy. The "whys" of the Zone are beyond my understanding mostly. These anomalies follow a path usually so until I saw your post, I had just thought that some anomalies had most abilities than others when I got chased.

@OP:- Good Zone info.... many thanks for helping to keep this stalker alive.
I knew they followed you around wen wearing Artifacts, so if i know i am going to a area where one or more are i just store the artifacts and get them back later, i just didnt know if you trow one that it would eat it/destroy it.

Neither did I, also because (fortunately) no artifact gets lost when you get simply hit. And as long as storing artifacts in the backpack works, I'd never thought about tossing them around (especially after the effort required to get them).
