The Monolith. Russian speratist movement
i need clarification. 1. the top thread for endings; cant comment in it lmao. 2. wasn't the monolith an allegory pre-war for the Russian separatist movement. wasn't that WHY they were the "big bad". i dont understand WHY the skiff ending is the good ending when the monolith still exists and faust wins. isnt that WHY monolith exists in the eastern most zones of Ukraine. isnt that WHY the monolith is so prevalent in limansk? that's WHY i think all the endings are terrible. 1. ward. no zone. 2. spark zombie zone. 3. strelok. back to square 1. 4. skiff. MONOLITH WINS. did we all just collectively plug our ears and eyes that the monolith was an allegory for returning to the Soviet state of affairs????

exactly. i like how some people are no longer calling it the "skiff" ending, some are calling it the "faust ending" which i think is far more appropriate given the fact that in that ending skiff is over and faust wins/ gets all he wants and worst off both in the zone and hinted to in the late game C-con/kaimanov papers and PDA messages that not only is the monolith reinstated but also there were agents INTENTIONALLY planted outside the zone for this very moment.

I don't think there is any political subtext there.

First Stalker games comes when there was not such a strong confrontation. Serios problems arised several years after. There was no need in allegories that time.
Stalker 2 inherited lore, so, no new sences are added.
And, even so, it is strange to see allegories against Ukraina in ukrainian game when lot of people were expecting completely opposite.

So, do not search politics there. At least do not try to force a square peg into a round hole. Signs, allegories, references could be found everywhere if you try hard enough.

look i dont mind you saying dont go too deep into stalker politics but please remember "roadside picnic" WAS a political book wasn't it? it was written during the cold war

then what was the clear sky faction then? why were why they Ukrainian flag colors?, why does duty and freedom share their factions share the same colors as past political movements (freedom: anarchism) and (duty: authoritarianism) in Ukraine pre Ukraine-Russ war? wasn't that why freedoms colors are green, and duty is black and red, isnt that why mercenaries used to be called 'western' influence or were portrayed as being external mil/corp interests from western Europe/us? isnt that why you could bribe a Ukrainian officer to get under the bridge in SoC because at that time they were low key mocking their fledgling military at the time post fall of the USSR? wasn't C-Con like pripyat itself an allegory to the horrible past the Ukrainian people endured under the resign of the USSR and the tragedy of the Chernobyl disaster and the famine? like i get it the factions changed over time as their politics became less prevalent but at the time they were made they were topical. i mean even down to freedoms western/NATO gear and dutys post soviet weaponry reflects this?
