Gauss Gun worth it?

I'm in Pripyat and just found a Gauss in yellow condition. 47k to repair. Is it worth the coupons?

It is very much worth it.
Cartridges are rare however, only use it in extreme situations. There's also 40 cartridges for it stashed on the Bagger 288 in Red Forest.

There seem to be at least 2 or 3 repaired gauss guns that can be found throughout the game, but I also repaired the first one I found instead and I think it was worth it.
Endgame traders sell cartridges and also some enemies will have gauss guns, so you can loot the ammo from time to time.
Using this made one of the "bossfights" in endgame really easy(no idea how hard it is without though).

regular Gauss rifle not practical for the mostly urban warfare in Pripyat. Only good Gauss rifle is Scar's, but by then you will only be able to use for a brief time before the ending. Hope they add NG+ to the game so we can keep all those supplies you worked so hard for. Scar's Gauss rifle is a no brainer for self defense, high capacity magazine, decent recycle rate, shoots through obstacles with ease.

It can kill Chimera and Pseudogiants in like 5 or 6 shots, no other gun comes close to that

you can't do that on all them thier is a point later in the story where you have to kill a psodogiant before you can continue

U can take ammo from enemies also+ there are some points where u can find 4 cartridges at time..
But Kharod was beaming so well for me with high cap mag that I didnt find a need even to use Super sniper...
Endgame I was using both of Gauss guns, 1 for closed combat bc of the ammo cap, 2nd to pick enemy snipers with the scoped one...

Worth it for the last trip. Not many places you can get ammo for it. Powerful, kicks a punch and low ammo gun. Keeper. for sure.

Very, very helpful to have during endgame, so yes, worth it towards the end.
