Dangerous Liaisons - Ward turns hostile?

I am on a Ward-playthrough and entered the Troposphere Com Station through the main gate. Showed the badge and suddenly the guards turned hostile on me. Why? I am friend to Ward (Chemical Plant is green) and have the badge.

Is that glitched? Wanted to play that part for once without bloodshed.

Why do they even open the door after you show the batch? If it is such a high security facility they should have simply said "Sorry buddy, even your Ward batch gives you no entry".

Also there is no real sneaky route because three guards are guarding the staircase if you take the side entrance and they are not leaving.

Nope, that is not well done here. There should be a real sneaky way to the basement.
