I don't understand the Faust suppressor
I genuinely ask, i'd like to understand things better. The game sends you to find some old data on how to suppress Faust's psi powers to create phantoms, you have the device equipped on your helmet by a technician, and then, it's actually useless in the Faust boss fight? He can still launch psi attacks at you, controller style, and he can still use "phantoms" to confuse you and deal damage? What was the point then?

On a side note, those are not phantoms. Those are more like agent smith's possession trick and when you kill Faust he warps out of the guy, just like in Matrix.

Can you explain what was the point of researching a way to defeat Faust just for it to be ignored in the actual fight? Please

Maybe it lowered his possibilities. I mean he used psi emitters to be invulnerable and his own power was not enough to ♥♥♥♥ ur head in fight. You couldn't kill him before, but you killed him with suppressor. If you did ofcourse...

Agreed tho, felt like it suppressed nothing.

Yes I guess that's it, the suppressor was meant to weaken Faust to a level where you should be able to confront him.
If that's the case then the entire narrative around the suppressor is really misleading. It doesn't suppress Faust at all. It's kind of just an excuse to explore old labs and advance the story I guess. I was just a bit disappointed and I expected something more meaningful.

The stats of this suppressor say it loweres the PSI around 5% iirc.
So if it wasn´t for the quest itself, you´d be good without just as much :)

Considering the upgrade provides almost nothing and can be done by any tech for a 100 coupons, I have a feeling there is a joke in there about just lining your helmet with tinfoil.

If anything he was stronger in the 2nd fight and was still able to spawn more dudes after taking out all the emitters
Like with all mutants the best strategy is "bum rush him with the siaga" until you get the gauss gun
Yea the devs just ignore their own plot points half the game. Especially the suppressor is egregrious example, 2 missions to find tinfoil lining that has half the psi-block power of the magic vodka.

Would have been cool to actually have the suppressor give a formidable Psi-protection but....

Guys, just come to the fight without a helmet. Quest asks only to get supressor ant install it into helmet, but not to fight with equipped modified helmet.
If it is all the same that mean you are right and supressor is just a placebo so that you can go into battle calml and confident.
Oh, there is certainly a joke in there. I'm certain of it now. Faust has sent us all on a fool's errand to stall for time.
