For people, who "want to explore the world"
Right after "tutorial" when you enter Zalissya, you can go anywhere and there will be no emissions. It is scripted so until you complete the quest with Squint. Until then you can go literally to any place on the map and explore. The only thing stopping you are your own wits, skills and patience. Yes, some places will be still closed off by quest progression (like underground of Ahroprom), but most of the map is still open.

And how do you get out of the lesser zone without glitching? The 2 routes east to Cordon have blocked gates until after the quest with Squint. The door north to the Garbage is locked, and the Pontoon bridge off to the west isn't built yet. Everything else is surrounded by water or cliff face (the east to cordon, aside from previously mentioned closed gates).

What you say may be technically true, but there is no practical way out of the lesser restoration zone, unless you can walk on water, launch yourself with an anomaly without dying from fall, clip thru a wall, or some other glitch. Maybe if you spend an hour or more pushing some debris to the eastern checkpoint you can go over gate or wall, but otherwise I am skeptical.

This, it sounds like what's been introduced here is a way to ''explore most of the zone'' and the only catch is you can't play the story.

Much better off going through the lesser zone, could even rush through the main missions if you'd like, and then once the checkpoints open you have the whole map to explore with no caveats.

You both missing the point. What I said is - without emissions - is the catch. And you CAN get out of Lesser Zone - going West through a dam And from there it is already easy to go anywhere. I tested it myself

Dude emissions arent that big of a deal. I think in both of my playthroughs, there was only one time where my butthole puckered because i was nowhere near a building when an emission hit. Once. That and the fact that it takes no time at all to unlock garbage and from there basically the rest of the map besides pripyat, i dont see why anyone would bother.
