Sounds like you have power issues. Either you need to upgrade your PSU or it could be something else.

Probably a power surge, kinda normal with modern GPUs and probably the real reason why they "require" a way beefier PSU than the numbers show.
Disable GPU boost, any overclock, lock the framerate, etc. and see if that helps.

How are your temps?

You need to dump your specs for real help man. This sounds like a power supply issue.

I had the same problem and found no conclusive solution
My PC would randomly just restart without a proper reboot.

What helped for me: If you have an AMD CPU with PBO All Core enabled, either disable PBO or use Single Core PBO.
Single Core PBO did it for me.

In Event-Log I also often had a critical failure "Kernel-Power" which didn't make any sense, since i have a relatively new 850W be quiet PSU with only a 5800X and 4080 SUPER. So i have at least like 100W of overhead.

Why Single Core PBO works? I have no idea. It might have something to do with a loss in the silicone lottery or the VRMs on the Mainboard.
Maybe it really is a failty PSU on the 5V rail
Maybe the issue has it's source in a faulty memory-block on the ram which is normaly not noticable, but since this game eats through ram like its noones business, the error occurs....

If you have an AMD CPU and the Event-Log shows you a Kernel-Power failure, i will gladly help with trouble shooting. This problem is a ♥♥♥♥♥ and i searched for a solution for about a year (Since i used ryzen master for overclocking the cpu with the per core automatic. idk how it is called right now..)

For me the solution seems to be a faulty vrm on the mainboard that is bending the knee with all core x4400 overclock.

Hope this provides even a little help.

Good luck

It's probably overheating.

This is 100% similar to when you don't have enough power in your power supply.
Overheating has slightly different symptoms.

Overheating would be solved by throttleling the cpu / gpu performance. Except he has hardware from 2001. With this hardware your assumption would be 100% correct

Could be your CPU or GPU. I had to undervolt my GPU and replace cooler on CPU as they were getting too hot.

Install HWMonitor and check the temps as if they get too hot the only way to "save" themselves is basically turning off.

Heat, power supply, or GPU issue. In that order. Ask me how I know.

This is a sorry release of what was expected to be as great as the original. The game runs poorly, the patches only fix short term gameplay, and the game play is terrible. I only made it through the prologue. Such a disappointment and ruined any future purchases of this developer.

this is happening to me sporadically on most unreal engine games, my PC restarts when drawing too much power from my intel i9 for some reason. if you have an Intel CPU then the intel extreme tuning app got my shaders to compile without crashing, i just click both auto optimize buttons displayed in easy mode, i just havent found what BIOS parameter it wants me to change...

Sounds like PSU issue to me. I had one in this Dell I'm on do things like that, until eventually it would get stuck after the reboot and I would have to hold the button and cold boot it.
Eventually that progressed to it just not powering on anymore. Luckily I had a really nice modular one from an older build sitting around and I tossed it in. No more random restarts. The PSU's almost always suck in a proprietary build.
