So they've made changes to the output device setting and the implementation is utter idiotic:
Instead of the game following the Windows setting as it did pre-patch, you now have to set the output device IN THE GAME'S SOUND MENU (I believe it is [Options / Sound / Output Device]....so make sure your Bluetooth headset is connected and on before you launch the game and then select it within the [Sound] menu ...

This also means that if you TURN OFF your BT headset, the game no longer automatically switches to whatever output device is available .. you have to go in and change it manually.

Whomever thought this was a good idea, should be hung from his/hers eyelids and forced to blink!

Sound works fine here no issues, make sure you have other sound devices disabled that you are not using, and this will make the game use only the device you are plugged into

Or you could just use a wired headset like 98% of people.

I have sympathy for those who like the feature of being able to plug-in and remove sound devices. Long, long, long ago, I can still remember when Windows didn't have support for that sort of thing.

But I also like the feature where the GAME has a configuration for which sound device to use, and doesn't just use the Windows default (because I have the Windows default set to my headphones so audio by default can't be heard in the room, and then specific apps get routed to the speakers on my monitor or to my speakerphone for example).

98% ?? Ah so we're now just making up s**t to "prove" our point? Are you sure it isn't 104% of all Gamers use wired headsets? Or did you mean 1607%?
And obviously you're one of the "It doesn't affect me so everyone else should just shut up and be like me"-people so not really sure there is any point in trying to argue sense with you.

How about this: DO NOT change a major functionality like ... oh I don't know .. how SOUND OUTPUT works 3 months AFTER release?
Or at the very least RETAIN THE SOUND OUTPUT SETTING that players have been using for 3 months?

Agreed...although I do think that your use scenario is a bit more unique than e.g. Bluetooth headsets being used with a PC.

Honestly I wouldn't have a problem with the new sound config setup in the game if they had implemented it like that from the very start ... but changing something so fundamental so far down the line is making sure that a lot of people get a proper bad user experience (well...I guess it's really only less than 2% if you believe Grubbs008's moronic argument).

And to add insult to injury BECAUSE of their implementation, you're forced to restart the game if you didn't turn on your Bluetooth headset prior to launching the game which is just bad design.

I'm having a weirs issue where wind\rain sounds seem to stutter like a broken sound loop since the patch.

I discovered that also, for some reason it had turned it self to "Realtek Audio Output" and my BT headset didnt work untill i manualy switched it in game.

If its a BT headset make sure you picked the right one, and not the "Hands-Free AG Audio" one with lower quality and bitrate, you need to select the one that says "Stereo"

Fix:
in file
C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\Stalker2\Saved\GameSettings\AppliedSettings.cfg
change line with AudioOutputDeviceId to this (or other headphones name in your system):
AudioOutputDeviceId = Headphones (Realtek(R) Audio)
