The attachment is based on the firearm and not the caliber. The extended mag will still work if you change calibers.
I've looted both places already, sadly. I never would've sold it if I knew it was compatible with another weapon. When they call it the AKM-74 Extended Magazine, one tends to think it would only be compatible with, oh, I don't know, the AKM-74...
I've sold at least a couple of those, too :( I found a Kharod early in the game and thought I'd be using that for the rest of my play through. So I gave up Valik's AKM-74S that I'd been using since the beginning and sold everything AKM related that I found afterwards. But I only recently learned that the Dnipro is better. and when I looked up compatible attachments and saw the AKM extended mag, my heart sank.
