should the scientists turn hostile during the malachite defence?
I keep getting a secondary objective "Hostile Faction: Scientists: The Scientists think I'm the bogeyman" while I'm fighting off the... well big bad guys (lets avoid spoilers) I've heard of bugs recently with faction reputation dropping when it shouldnt so I don't want to continue that save file if this is a bug. It is happening consistently, like maybe every kill on friendly ground is being considered friendly fire even though I'm shooting the OTHER guys... but maybe its intended? I'm going to stop my play through until I'm either reassured this is normal... or its not and they fix it. (this is like the third time I've had to pause my playthrough...)

I dont know if its a bug or not, seems they do not like you killing people even if its the Ward...

Some people claim there is a trick show your badge wen the ward arive and sending them on patrol but others say it doesnt help might have to do with your choice during Black Sheep, i think your supost to hand over the data to the ward
Some also claim if you kill NPC's close to the Malachite base that it will damadge your reputation.
If thats the case than i screwed up on all 3.

You can stil fast travel there, but the only way to leave the building is trough the pipe, and you have to be carefull wen doing so not to get noticed wen you exit the pipe, if they do notice you just run (hope you killed the snorks there earlier)
I decided to push forward after reading other people have just put up with the issue, some even say its intentional but funnily enough, I just happened on a patrol getting wrecked by mutants and I saved one of them with a medkit, and that made the scientists not hate me again. So it turned out to be a non issue in my case.

It definitely feels like a bug though.

Its basically impossible to tell the difference between factions in combat. Especially when two groups are fighting eachother. Even if one is friendly towards you they might shoot through you if you line up with an enemy. Making you think you are being shot at by your allies, So you shoot them back and make the entire battle hostile towards you. Ive also just randomly lost entire bases of stalkers and other factions where I go out. Get ambushed like normal, kill the people who shot at me, Go back and everyone is gone and dead and no more fast travel point. It seems totally random idk .
For me they didn't, infact other than their symbols turning red. I can still interact with them despite being in the Ward Faction.

Same here on 1st Stalker side run, they just got run over but they are not happy about it. So they do some "offside" work for you. I also helped her out with missions, this time I kinda failed last part, so lets see...
no it doesn't make sense that they turned hostile cause the player was trying to help the attackers, made no sense to me that they saw the player as a bogeyman...

the reputation system is just screwed up on that base, one of the attackers was actually stuck behind the trading counter too and I thought that was a bug when I seen that

It does make sense.
On Stalker side- base gets overrun and everybody shoots everybody. And thescientis hide away: thats when the Boogyman quest is active.
When things calm down they crawl out of hiding and Boogieman quest is finished and scientis still try to deal with u bc now they can calmly see that u are the cool guy who helped them out b4. But they cant do it openly bc u and the other guys arent on good terms.
Same with other 2 bases on Stslker side, u cant acess them. And 1 of them runs out of staff and its brought up on other base: " oh do u come from that camp?" " yeah things went crazy".

Havent got so far on Ward side though, maybe its bugged on ward side.

If you shoot wrong ppl, thats on your side.
Friendly fire happens...

the ward side is bugged on the second duga mission, the doors are locked in the tech tunnel so I can't even get to that malachite mission to test it on that side

I reloaded my save multiple times to only make sure to shoot those who are shooting me. it was definitely not a friendly fire incident.

Malachite becomes part of the W*rd faction, so it makes sense.

It doesn't feel right, even if it makes sense. Any other time a faction goes hostile based on story decisions, they just are hostile. The secondary objective telling you they are hostile with a super vague "you screwed up" description feels like its there for when you do something dumb like shoot their people unprovoked. Even if it makes sense, the way its communicated feels wrong. Not to mention that helping a random squad out in the open world suddenly made them forgive me makes me believe I'm right, because if they were just part of the ward, they wouldnt be so easily convinced that I'm alright now.
