How to start Three Captains quest in Zaton?
Sonya doesn't give the quest to me. Am I supposed to do work for Sultan and Beard first? I haven't done Beard's mission yet.

Yes, you have to do Sultan’s and Beard’s missions
Watch out for a possible bug!

Once you accept the mission, you will get the main objective A and an optional objective B. IT IS NOT STATED, but in theory you can also choose a C way.

Either way, you ideally want to do the optional objective B no matter what, because doing so will grant you a unique weapon.

After doing B, you can toggle a radio. Doing so will trigger a sequence where you're supposed to do A. If you fail, a semi-scripted event will start, leading to a conclusion where A is achieved anyway.

This is what happened in my 1st attempt. But since I didn't like the outcome A, I reloaded a previous save in order to try and achieve C instead.

Except, due to a bug, since then whenever I talk to Sonya and accept the mission, the scripted event is automatically counted as already happened, and the quest instantly self-completes with the A outcome.

Therefore, make sure you do NOT use the radio at B unless you are 100% sure you want outcome A.

I'll just mention that after doing the Beard and Sultan quests, it took some time before Sonya gave me the quest. I had left the area and came back on a different mission when she contacted me.

Maybe you should use to explain that what the choises and outcomes are

Objective A is Beard and Sultan getting killed.

Optional objective B is reaching the sniping position, where you can find the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ rifle and the radio. Toggling the radio will trigger a sequence where you're supposed to snipe both targets through a window (although probably bugged). Location B is normally unreachable.

If you start B, but then fail or leave the place, Sonya will complain and launch her backup plan, at which point a mercs team will come in and kill Beard and Sultan, hence the unavoidable A outcome.

I want instead to get the rifle, but then betray Sonya and side with Beard and Sultan against the mercs.

That'll be your save game file corrupted.
