Story of freeroam?

How many of you will follow the story line, and how many will just go free roaming in the zone?

I will spend a ton of time exploring then when I get bored I will go do main objectives and advance the story a bit. That's how I feel it's best to play most open world games.

I'll do both likely follow some story then wander off and explore some and eventually hit the story too

Depends on the game's story. A lot of previous Stalker releases locked part of the maps behind story-events, like CoP locking Pripyat, and SoC locking the NPP for the ending mission.

So really, we might have to do parts of the main story to access the late-game areas with the best gear/tools/anomalies.

I guess first few hours goes for story, and than made a decission - complete it and go for freeroam, or not complete story. I start played Skyrim so many times, but I still never complete it main quest

Well they stated in a q&a that you can certainly try to walk from cordon to the cnpp so most areas will probably not be locked by story events.
