so why u dont post ur thoughts in the gamepass forum? well...
The other thing is, i have enough money to buy the game here and using the most garbage gaming app.
That's what you got from his post?
I pre-ordered Stalker 2 on steam as I have been a huge fan of the series since the originals and I intend to put hundreds of hours into it over many years, returning periodically to replay it (modded or not). I rarely pre-order games and i never recommend it.
While I also miss physical copies of games for PC, the industry moved away from it for multiple reasons. Saving money and time on distribution and making game updates easier are the most common talking points, the simple drm aspect played a larger role. Windows XP added support for hardware virtualization, allowing you to create virtual disc drives. You could rip a CD/DVD to an image file (.iso normally) which included the files and security seals. You could load that image file into a virtual drive and games/software would view it as a valid CD/DVD, making its drm completely obsolete. Torrents simply made the issue worse.
All physical media will fail eventually (floppy discs, CD/DVD, hard drives).
When game devs began to sell COLLECTORS EDITION boxes, that didnt even include the CD-Key for the digital copy of the game. Not even talking about a physical disk...
That's cool. Some people still like to buy their games and hold them for a future play through. Stalker will have likely more than one ending and it's an immersive sim so there will be multiple ways to do each individual thing. Sure you could play it on game pass and play it once, like most of the tourist who use game pass. There are still actual gamers out here who rather support the devs instead of supporting MS who bought a timed license to stream the game on their service.
Going to try on GP first. I'm wasting the sub. This is the first game in a long time I'm getting value.
Spending $100 on a game is not a problem for me as a working person but if you are on tighter budget, Game Pass is great option to play the game at release for very cheap.
I have always interpreted that as predatory marketing, why list a glorified "goodie bag" as an edition and not include the game, physical disk or digital key.
(I was curious so I pulled up the stalker 2's collectors edition, it does include a key if anyone who sees this is wondering)
This. Usually these games ripe over the years and get updates and mods. If you come back to it after e.g. a DLC drops, you don't need to shell out money again.
>glorified betas
>misleading from their trailers
>filled with propaganda
>designed by MBAers who focus on technical stuff rather than fun
There's only a handful of games worth playing every year and that list keeps getting smaller and smaller.
