Why buy it??
As the title suggests, why buy it if it will be available on Game Pass from day one?

Because I like having all my ♥♥♥♥ in Steam tbh. Plus I want to support GSC, they created a world with lore I've enjoyed for years. They deserve it. As long as they don't push no "woke" crap. Otherwise I'll refund and never look back.

Not everyone uses game pass? Wow, so crazy.
Scyris Nov 17, 2024 @ 10:33am
Because alot of mods won't work on the gamepass version of the game, and other games have proven this, due to how much MS locks down the game on your pc. Thats my big reason to get it on steam. Full mod support is only avail outside of the MS store/gamepass for pc thing. Gamepass for pc is a good place to TRY a game out, but if its something where it can be heavily modded, its not good to use the gamepass version, as it'll be locked out of alot of mods.

I like ""owning"" my games

Full support to the devs!

I think that devs still take money from game pass otherwise there would be no reason to go there, right?

Because I hate subscription services, and I don't care about Game Pass.
I buy my games on Steam.

Oh I got Game Pass, totally worth the price! But I also like to own games I love and plan on sticking around a while.

gamepass is crap

Gamepass keeps being a disaster that makes you want to almost apologize for bad optimization on your fully purchase copies of games.

I am glad the option is there for people. Even here, someone trying it out on gamepass because they had gamepass is one more person that might buy it for real, compare to somebody who will never give it a shot because inflation is a bastard even to people with jobs. And so many, many games that will not show all their most devastating bugs or performance issues until after the refund window discourages blind faith buys even for devs you like (said admittedly, as an insane ultimate pre-order haver)

But some of us have friends hit by the "Gamepass phantasy star is taking up windows protected disk space forever now" and roll our eyes at "No man, they made gamepass less like malware you can't control honest!" reassurances. Even ignoring the comparative ease of modding (or when it is outright impossible on gamepass)

Original STALKER game from 2007 is still heavily modded and played a lot 18 years after release with thousands of mods adding new locations/artifacts/monsters/guns/crafting/magazines mechanics/etc...
STALKER 2 is even more mods-friendly, so I am looking forward to play STALKER 2 ANOMALY/GAMMA versions... but I am not going to pay for game pass for 18 next years... Also there are 2 expansions planned and game pass only include base game, but never DLCs ans expansions...

Gamepass is temporary, but Steam is eternal.

I want to support the developer so they make more games. Not buying the game is a big F U to the game and the developer. Then people will complain there no sequel because they didn't support the developer by buying the game
