Tbf FSR3 aint all that bad either but i am not really that annoyed by upscaling artifacts as others.
I do use DLSS if its available instead.
as far as iam aware ALL RTX gpu´s support dlls 3+
the only thing thats exclusive to 40 series is frame generation
There haven't really been too many games released using the full capabilities of the UE5 engine yet. Most, like Redfall(or whatever it was called) were rushed to be the first out using it. I have the early access of Body Cam which runs a lot more like S2 should. I got it because of that so I could get some sort of idea how well my computer would do. I was actually surprised by how well my 5800x3D and 6900xt handled it. I was even hosting a game with multiple people on it....using 4G LTE "Broadband"(only like 10-20DL/15UP on average). I was actually impressed by how efficient it was AND how fricking nice it looked! Granted my 69000xt is the Saphire Toxic EE w/ the 360mm AIO, so its better than most, but not by crazy amounts or anything. It even dealt with "RT" pretty well considering. I do not use upscalling. I don't like losing the FOV you lose when doing so. I would rather just play on that native res. There are MANY unique effects that UE5 can provide as well, so some may have to turn those off until the hardware improves. STALKER games like Anomaly etc are still taxing even the best PCs to this day! Also, the higher res you play at the less need for resource intensive effects that were initially developed to hide the fact that higher resolutions were not available at the time. AA for example is unnecessary at 2-4k. Yeah it will make it look even better, but not enough to justify the compute/drop in FPS if you can't afford it. Most of the time benchmarks will include the same effects at each res. In my experince it's not so much the number of FPS possible, as much as it is the changes in that average, such as dips/stutters, etc. Film is only 24fps and when they do film at 48fps, it looks weird! I think it is a poor way to judge the presentation of a game alone. if it can provide a locked 30fps at high detail, I would be much happier than it shooting between 30-120fps.
I could be very wrong, heck, I was actually looking forward to FO4! I know my capacity for being incorrect. I am also admittedly bias...I have been waiting for this game for roughly 15 years! However, I have been building PCs and trying to get the most bang for the buck out of a game for over a quarter century(sounds cooler than saying, "...over 25 years"), so I do have SOME faith in my hypothesizes. I would be happy to have a game that I could actually see improvements in as I upgrade/build new PCs, too....well besides Anomaly, lol.
I will say I am kinda ticked off that there will be no pre-load for Steam as of now. Even Microsoft Store is doing pre-loads for it....then again, that prob just means they will have it by December instead of Jan :-D Who the ___ buys ANYTHING from the Microsoft Store when they don't have to?! I often won't use it even if it is my only option (sorry ATMOS). I can't say too much, though, since every Steam player will be downloading the 160GB DL all at once and I only have a 4G, I may not have it installed until December myself! ugh! I may have to lug it somewhere with some decent bandwidth. Unfortunately, that is a bit of a trip where I am (far from "civilization")
I hope ya'll can find something to be happy about with it. Or perhaps do a better job so we can experience what it should be!
I would be happy to see someone else do a better job than Bethesda even if they used UE5. Also keep in mind much of the optimizations done in development were done to accommodate console hardware. in many cases it is too hard to redo all of that for PC, so it is common to use hardware emulation to port to PC. I really hope that isn't the case here, but since console licence terms tend to demand that the PC version can not be too much different than the console one, there is VERY little incentive to put that much effort into it. if ti can be any kind of playable on a an XB or PS(aka a 5 year old off the shelf "gaming" laptop), then it should be a lot better on anything sporting a dedicated GPU made in the past 4 years or so. We will see
LOL, glad some folks are still around who remember Ye Olde Voodoo cards...and Quake 1 with actual 3D graphics, Duke Nukem, and tinkering with BIOS etc ;)
"Hail to the King, baby!"
Rise of the Triad straight from DOS yo!
I mean anyone who has a bit of sanity left, just doesn't want Bethesda to keep using their "current" engine, as it's bad as hell. If they don't switch, it's 100% confirmed thas TES6 won't be that great.
ever since consoles and pc markets merged we have been held back by the console upgrade cycles, this wont change for any foreseeable future im afraid.
