Huge patch 1.0.4.
Every day I go to the site to report file changes in development. It is already the third week that they are actively changing something there. You can see that they are changing libraries and systems related to root mechanics, artificial intelligence and for some reason locations, as if they do not make a patch but a DLC.

It is very sad that the developers have almost no communication with the players from their side, we learn about their actions post facto because of what many people have time to many times to make themselves up, to think of unnecessary and disappointed in advance, which is currently a critical error, given the not very smooth release of the game.

So one developer only confirmed in a “comment!” on reddit that yes, they are preparing a big patch. (I think you already know and I don't need to look it up).

Well, huge patch is all nice and dandy but it is taking a long time. I have parked the game just before point of no return, one last mission before it is over. I did that to see what big changes, improvements and additions are added by next patch. I have already dumped a lot of time to Stalker 2, too much to be honest for how unpolished and incomplete it is. My patience and interest is running thinner every day the patch does not deploy. I waited over a week for them to deploy patches that fix post-SIRCAA game and it was a mixed result at best. I'm now waiting for nearly a week doing for patch 1.0.4 while the game is still bugy, I have several quest items stuck in my inventory, several quest bugged in journal and nothing else to do in the game.
I know what you mean. That's what I'm saying that communication between developers and players would at least somehow mitigate this bitter fact

Communication is always welcome but it must be always teamed up with actions.

GSC are not AAA but they are also not newcomers or 3 team indie developer studio.

It gets tiresome that people defend this game so much and in the same time deem everyone who does strict, fair and polite criticism as a non OG Stalker fan while doing mental gymnastics between ''you have 100+ hours still you give a negative review or criticism'' OR '' you have only played a couple of hours''.

I like to always approach my favorite franchises as the football team of my home town. Which for me, that i love my town football team in the same way as i love the trilogy from OG SoC initial release, means that when i see something bad i must call it before team goes to hell.

Blindly applaud or giving excuses to things that should be called and criticized harshly only leads to downgrade.

I have played and still playing S2 for 110+ hours and iam 60% in the main quest line. I enjoy the game but the truth is that it needs a better tempo with the the fixes and like @Baron01 said addition of the features that should be here from the get go. They owe it professionally and morally to all the OG veterans that supported them financially either if they are on the applauding OR the criticizing side because both sides care and love the franchise if they spend their time writing and actively engaging.

And for Gods shake the administration must say to the marketing/PR side of GSC to stop these fancy videos and announcements at least until they have proper main and secondary quest lines working without mods or engine edits, A life, nightvision and mutant parts which yes existed from SoC.

lots of us paid full AAA price for missing features, ''giving a break'' doesnt cut it, they should have sold it as early access then if they needed more time

My impression is that GSC is doing a lot of work to make sure that the patch catches all the game stopping bugs and spending as much time testing it as they can before the holiday season starts.

Keep up the good work GSC !

If it were only about fair and polite criticism..... If there is an extreme in the form of “defenders” of the game in spite of everything, there is an extreme in the form of aggressive heath just because people in their memories seem to be the perfect game of 2007.

If you want Developer communication go to their Discord. The sad truth is that most Dev's simply ignore Steam and post on Reddit or Discord instead.

The developers are aware of the problems, the technical bugs have already been fixed, and the game is available. They've been doing some big patch for 3 weeks now (I'm getting tired of waiting for it, but I check their reports every day). They released the game when it was most profitable to recoup the money invested in development (no one thinks games are going to be given away for free, right? ), and they themselves said that they expected the game to fail because of its technical state, so nobody thought about million-dollar purchases, which means that nobody deceived you, you deceived your own expectations, you bought the game knowing about its state from reviews (and if you didn't watch the reviews, it's your own fault for not wanting to understand anything and acting impulsively in life), and at the same time the PROGRAMMERS are newcomers. They're not a big, inexperienced company, they have only a few very old, weak by today's times games, they're the first to make an open world game on Unreal Engine 5, and you want what from them? Stars from the sky? Are you adequate?

For that matter, if they gave you a game just to screw you over - no one would be releasing patches right now, taking their millions of dollars in profits, or even saying thank you.

It's just people, not Jesus Christ. Inexperienced people in the European market. Who are dealing with that kind of money for the first time in their lives. And yes, the situation is like cyberpunk when people who don't really know much about modern game development try to make something breakthrough. If you don't have an understanding of human...

Its just unfathomable to me how you can spend money on any thing and not expect it to work or even excuse its broken state. Ive spent 45 € for this collection of garbage and I was expecting at least a halfway polished game as everyone would like to be able to actually enjoy a game and not be spoilt in their fun by glitches, bugs and performance problems. I have a question for you: If you go buy a car, do you expect it to come without tires or a steering wheel? Would you say "Oh, no worries if that brand new car is broken, I'll bring it back for 3 months and then I can finally ride it to work." ?

Community manager posted on Reddit the next patch will have some a life fixes. Other bug fixes as well. He/she/they or whatever they are said they don't know the results of the testing so they are not saying anything else other than it will come when it's ready. This is to avoid any blame or expectations if they do say it's going out on day X.

Steamdb is just an indicator that stuff is being checked in, etc. Not an actual proof that a patch is close to being put out.

If you stop by their discord they have a Q&A section about patch question on what is being worked on and fixed.
Dr.Abscondus Dec 18, 2024 @ 9:04pm
I want them to work on the patch and not waste time 'communicating with the players' which accomplishes nothing except to quiet the wailing of spoiled babies.

unable to understand the site . can you please explain man
The site only shows reports on modified libraries (files) and one can only guess their values by name and size. There is no objective information there, except the fact that “something is being done for a long time, something big”.

now i can get . thanks for information man  :steamthis::love_seagull: :VSnake:

Except most large companies have Community Representatives and Marketing experts to communicate and get feedback on what's going on in the actual player base of the game, making sure that the big problems are addressed and giving insight to what's going on.

Unless you're Yandere Dev, who claimed he was taking 6+ hours a day everyday to read emails instead of working on the game, and asked his community to stop emailing him. Now that was a real clown at work.

Again, this isn't an indie studio who has like 3 developers doing 100% of the work. This is a company with like, maybe 20-30 main devs working on game code and game features, DLCs and such, then you have the artists making trailers, DLC models and worldbuildings, you have HR, Marketing department, Management positions...

Always surprises me how people have just no clue how large org work.
