why do people have to play with mods you ask? there are a lot of reasons for that to varying degree. some want to fix bugs or QOL features they like.. the reasons can be many things. depending on the type of mod you use "yes" it can affect the game quite a bit, both in good and sometimes bad ways. your mileage may vary when it comes to mods.

bottom line is this... if you like the game the way it is dont use them. if you have issues with certain things, there are some mods out there already that can and may help you. everyone likes to play their game differently for different reasons

Mods are good. It helps to customise the game to your needs. Not everyone has to agree to what the benefits/detractions are. Use 'em as you see fit. After all, it is a single player game. It's not like you're trying to cheat an opponent.

Personally, I think most current mods are glorified edits attempting to repair features GSC gameworld will address, anyway. Either way, these are small (but sometimes significant) edits to .cfg files and other easily accessed files.

I'd personally wait until the dev team have updated the game a little more before applying mods. While I've not heard of any instances where mods have corrupted save files, there's always a possibility such mods may create conflicts with future patches.

Use 'em at your own risk with this understanding in mind.

I'm also looking forward to full mod support once the game is more polished. I don't think GSC will open it up without the game being improved in just about every area. Then we can REALLY talk about mods. :)

because sometimes mods make game better, devs are not super AI who knows what every player want from the game... they make basic game, you want something to add, you download mod. Fore example i really want mod who add gas-mask HUD, something like in metro, and i want see how its break when my gear breaking

Thankyou all for explanation. Had heard that some people look upon it as cheating.

A lot of the early mods were bug fixing and have been made obsolete by the 3 patches

Why you asking like you never play any game with mod before?

The only mod I'm using is Maklane's Better Shootouts that removes pinpoint accuracy from NPCs at long ranges, cause that's just annoying.

I'll be using many more mods though for a second playthrough eventually when the game gets some big updates and modpacks become stable.

In general STALKER is one of those games that benefits greatly from mods - be it in terms of bugs, quality of life, or new/updated features.

You don't "have to" play with mods, as has been said, single player game your choice as nobody will know.

I am one of those that tried mods on a few different games over my time on the computer and I can say with some conviction, rather than download a bunch of mods to see if you like using one or another, try a trainer.
Yes, they are mods but AIO.
Most come with a number of choices like unlimited ammo, health, stamina, weight, etc. I don't use them anymore but with some games I found too frustrating to continue, they helped get by a difficult part.
The other GOOD thing about them, is most can be toggled off and on.

AGAIN - it is YOUR choice to play the game(s) YOUR way.
