skip every mutant encounter, as they are not only just a waste of ammo, durability, time, time which they take away excessively, so just do yourself a favor, if you see a psuedo giant or any mutant bigger than a dog, just reload your nearest save or run away much faster than just killing it, theres nothing to be gained and only things to be lost from fighting any mutant.
as for forced arena encounters during missions, spray and pray their 1mil health bar drops and you hit the right one. <---- save your good ammo for these which means you'll be using ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ammo for everything else in the world and it's never worth the headache just savescum open world mutant encounters or run away from all of them.
either that or get a mod that fixes mutant health.
Ones that havn't been fixed yet are Bayan (psy cats), Psodogiant giants, chimera's and Mutated Deers
Deer? Supe 1-2 shots and done...
Havent encountered cats yet, or do u mean those hallucinating ones, which start voices in ur head? Pop Psi pill and bum rush them with shotty, ez.
I really wonder if any1 ever played any RPG b4 S2? Where u have to get better gear, think about different tactics.
If no good ideas pop into head go to forums and start discussion about different ways to handle situations.
Noqadays every is it seems every1 is used to CoD whete the dotted line brings u from point A to B, then jump around like bunny and let the cheat/aim assist do the work on controller...
If you have to find them, best way I find is to try to get jump on them--if you get close enough without them going aggro, you can quickly kill them with Saiga or other high-powered weapon before they summon clones and swap with one of those clones. You can do this to the one on the way to Pripyat, it spawns in one of those garages so if you sneak to the doors you can run in and kill it before it can do anything.
If you can not get jump on them, have AR or SMG with high capacity magazine ready and shotgun as a swap--save the shotgun the for the real one. Use AR/SMG on single-fire mode to drop any illusion that run straight at you. This is also your hint to finding the real bastard, it usually does not attack you and tries to run away and hide. Most illusions run straight at you while the real dog hands in the back or even move behind cover. Grenades are pretty pointless as it takes way too long to even prime one and they do pitiful damage anyway unless you are using F1 grenades, which is massive waste anyway.
