Hard shut down... lost all game saves
Had to hard shut down in game. When I restarted, the game asked for another user agreement... I accepted. Now I have to start all over and it's not letting me change difficulty (seems stuck on rookie) any suggestions?

First off, don't play and don't make any saves.

Go to the \AppData\Local\Stalker2\Saved directory, and look for save files. Any files you see there, COPY to another directory.

What seems to happen is that you DO still have saves, but some other file that groups your save files together into a campaign slot, and keeps track of things like the total number of times you died for that campaign slot, gets corrupted. With that file corrupted, the game doesn't know about your save files - your saves are there, but the tracking file is busted, so the game doesn't know how to group your save files.

Once you have copied your save files out, you can see which one is the most recent one based on the file timestamp.

Create a NEW campaign and save the game. Go look in the Saved directory, and you should see the most recent save file for this new save you just made. Copy the NAME of that file, and DELETE that file. Go to where you made a backup of your save files, get the newest one, copy it into the Saved directory, and RENAME it to be the same name as the file you deleted.

Start the game, and you should be able to load that save.

Maybe. Please report back if this works.

C:\Users\<enter_User_Here>\AppData\Local\Stalker2\Saved\STEAM\SaveGames

copied and put away an old save file e.x. "081086434B9CEF69C300CAB4F3C98F02.sav"

Start a new game in a different slot, slot#2, took the new save name generated by the new save file and put it on the old save file and then took the old save file and replaced the new one in the directory since they have the same name.

Restart the game

Watch out for cloud saves. If you did find the saves make a back up just in case.

Hi
I also lost all my saves two days ago and there's no way to get them back - I've tried every method. Can someone help me with their save - my progress is completing the hornet's nest mission - maybe someone has a save they could share?
