any reason to keep gauss rifle?
looks like it sells for a lot but i'm not sure how limited ammo is for it. it's also pretty heavy, so i don't know if it's worth keeping

Its a oneshoter for the final stage of the Game. If you made it this far, you dont realy need it anway. The Vendor in Prypiat sells all the Ammo you need.
And if you happen to run low on ammo you can usually sleep and then save the game, reload the save and vendors should be restocked again
There's only one place in the game where I found it useful and that was in the room after Scar fight where you have to kill the Monolith squad to open the door on the other side. There are guys with Gauss rifles on walkways on both sides of the room. Scar had one so I took it with me and used it to kill the snipers before jumping down into the room. One shot through their cover. You can see the blue glow from their Gauss rifles through their cover so you know where to shoot.

It can take down a Chimera or Pseudogiant in 5 or 6 shots, so there's that...

you don't have to exit game and reload only sleep will refresh it

It's a one shot kill on regular, even against the Granite. There's gear and artifact that double your initial carrying capacity, so imo there's no excuse not to take your gauss rifle with you in the end game. But to each their own.

I'm sorry, 5 or 6? I remember in CoP they only took like 1 or 2. Why tf is mutant health so high in this game?
Edit: had to see this for myself and came across a video of a guy needing like 20 shots. What the hell.

If you miss most of them, sure, you need 20.
Like I keep saying; this game is REALLY DUMB.

Like the monsters HP don't make any sense.

There is no good balance between Rookie and Stalker skill levels.

Stalker is as bad as Veteran, some good, some bad. But having monsters on either of these being bullet sponges and you dying in 2 hits is super dumb. Accidently get too close to a gravi; oh well... you're dead. There is no real middle ground. On Rookie it's dumb because I can walk around and like everyone in the game shooting at me and I can just laugh and take my time with headshots on everyone in Zalissya or Cordon and such without ever dying. But then change it to Stalker and they'll hand you your butt on a platter. Or a single bloodsucker will take like 8 buckshot hits before going down. Like WTF... Bloodsucker or not, couple slashes of the knife should take it down. On Stalker or Veteran, that's what I did with Bloodsuckers and it actually works out better. That's quite sad.

No. it is too heavy. not enough ammo and repair costs for it are way too high.
Bro just stop; money is so easy in this game it's not funny.
Got my first $1 MILLION about 15 hours in.

What mods or exploits you use?
I didn't use any mods until after 50 hours

Yeah this sure looks like a lot of misses /s
I read that you apparently need to aim for more damage though. If true, what a nonsense addition that wasn't in the trilogy.
