Kharod.. Best AR to use Early in the Game?!
After completing my 1st play through, I decided to run and grab the Kharod for FREE at the beginning of my 2nd play through (video down below if you're interested). Talk about a big game changer! Besides the obvious penetration & attachments benefits, the SOLE REASON for me is the ammo it uses! Yeah it comes standard in 5.56 NATO but it REALLY SHINES when you upgrade the barrel to chamber 5.45mm! With as common as that caliber is EARLY game, nothing competes with it! Just slap an ACOG scope on it & you're fanf@ckin' tastic!! You just have to upgrade the gun as little as possible early on in order to keep repair costs at a minimum. Any thoughts regarding this?

Once I get over the midway point, I'll probably transition to the Dnipro and upgrade that to 7.62 as that just SHREDDDS through the armored enemies in Pripyat. But thats another topic lol.

Why would you want to use advanced rifle early in the game when basic AK or TOZ does the job just fine?

Using advanced weapons, with high value, will significantly increase your repair costs. This is the same issue as when finding Seva-D early and realizing you have hard time keeping up with the repair bills.

Because why not?! lol It's my 2nd play through and just wanted to switch it up a bit. I don't have an issue with repair costs as I'm constantly selling red weapons to ol' Ragman at Rostok. For my 3rd play through I just might limit myself to the sh@ttiest weapon I can find. I like mixing it up.

I would still go for Dnipro in such case, ie. 2nd playthrough, because the ammo is much more readily available. I do not like buying ammo and 5.56 is way too rare to find to keep up with the demand.

I have yet to find Dnipro upgrade to change caliber to 7.62x39mm and I'm about to finish the game. Same goes for increase armor penetration for Saiga. I hate Pripyat for some reason so a lot of it is still unexplored, which might be where those blueprints are hidden. Guess that will be my 2nd playthrough mission but I will wait for few more patches and more substantial mods to arrive before I start again.

Can't blame you there. In my over 170 hrs of playtime, I've encountered more bugs/crashes in my 2nd play through than my 1st. For example, my game crashes quite a bit lately when going through my personal stash box and while sometimes getting sucked into an anomaly. I obviously love the game but it definitely needs more bug fixes.

If you get to Rostok early on and do those arena matches, you can get a Kharod and a Rhino. On the last fight, ask the guy to pick the weapons, then after defeating him put the weapons and anything else you want to keep on his body, then carry it out of both rooms to the safe where your equipment is. Also in the fights before that, if the opponents are human you can use one of their bodies to carry anything you want out of the arena.

It's not hard to have enough money around simply by hitting up artifact locations while traveling around. Even with the selling glitch patched still not having a problem. Quite frankly as I near endgame I find all the complaints about the game to be mostly BS aside from the memory leaks and perhaps the spawning in some instances, but it's not that bad really.

Bottom line you'll never please everyone. Get the best gun you can and use it. I've been rocking the Dnipro much of the game. Rather than follow the story I went straight north to get exosuits and weapons.

Where is the Dnipro for early find then?
