7.62x39mm ammunition?

I've just found a RPM-74 machine gun and it takes 7.62x39mm ammo but cannot find anywhere to buy the ammo. I've tried Yanif, Slag Heap, Malchite, Rostok and that ship (cannot remember name) and none of them sell it. I know traders sometimes don't sell some stuff but surely at least one of the above should have sold it?

You will find alot of this ammo in stashes but almost never on a person actually carrying the gun. Your best bet is to sneak into pripyat and try the endgame base there because that guy sells alot. Plus alot of the merchants in the game will upgrade their stock after certain missions are completed. Not sure if it's just story missions or reputation level or what, but I notice some get more stuff over time.
