What returning characters would you guys like to see?
For me:

Freedom:
Uncle Yar: Could be a guide or a quest NPC; quite enjoyed him in CoP.
Ashot: His back and forth with Yar indicates a long friendship, maybe a quest relating the two like Yar wanting to find his old friend.
Chekhov: After missing from the world for a long time you could come across him as a monolith convert perhaps, like a small quest investigating the fate of Chekhov.

Duty:
Bullet + Squad: His squad from SoC and the rescued Duty member would be neat as a worldbuilding component, like how they progressed or if they even survived etc.
Voronin: As the age-riddled leader of Duty a quest about his leadership would be interesting.
Zulu: The drunk, LMG wielding badass; could have some cool content.

Military:
Kovalsky: Leader of the Stingray group, after working with STALKERS and the help of Guide could be a somewhat friendly military member, maybe even leaving to join another faction.
Degtyarev: USS officer and playable character in CoP, his ability to blend in and work with STALKERS would be useful to the military and expeditions in to the Zone; could have some interesting infiltration missions.
Sokolov: The somewhat timid pilot of Stingray 4,did he come back to the zone; could he truely just leave it behind after what he experienced and saw?

Bandits:
Yoga: One of the few bandits the remained in the zone for a long time, known to trick and trap loners.
Sultan: The main coordinator of bandits in the pripyat area, survived CoP and is still out there playing loners against one another.

Mercs:
Hog: Hired Scar to free a team of Mercs trapped in an anomaly, is suspected to still be alive and active in the Zone, maybe working for the Ecologists?
Scar: The true fate of Scar is unknown, is he dead, converted or did he somehow survive? Did the zone consume him or did he turn in to an anomolous entity?

Ecologists:
Sakharov: The developer of the psy protection device that helped many STALKERS survive the potential zombification, a main character and supposed leader of the faction; is he still stuck in Yantar or has he moved on to bigger projects?
Hermann and Ozersky: While Hermann is set to return the fate of Ozersky remains unclear.
Novikov: Former member of the lost faction Clear Sky, extreme techincal brilliance, ended up working for the Ecologist in CoP.

Clear Sky:
Nimble: From a small time guide and information collector in CS to the main special weapons provider in CoP; Nimble has walked a long road to be where he is today. Will he appear as a trader, quest giver or as a loyal companion?
Lebedev: The defacto leader of Clear Sky before it's destruction, struck by the emission at the end of CS; could be a possible convert of the monolith.
Kalancha: A founder of Clear Sky his fate remains unknown, maybe he is hunted by different factions of the zone for his history as a member of the zone research team; his knowledge could be invalueable to anyone who captures him.
Cold: The friendly bartender of Clear Sky, how did he cope with the destruction of his faction, did he join another; is he still searching for his lost brothers of Clear Sky?

Free Stalkers:
Bes: A ferious STALKER and hater of the Bandit faction, could he be a peacekeeper in the zone protecting lone STALKERS on their travels; quest regarding Bandit hunting?
Snitch: A shady STALKER dealing in information, a quest of betrayal or maybe he joined with the mercs due to his ability to deal in information?
Guide: The legendary STALKER that has helped many cross the horrible areas of the zone, somehow always find a safe route, seems to have an allegiance to none but the humans of the zone; will he play a key part in STALKER 2?
Wolf: A former leader of the rookies at Cordon, decided to wander the zone; will he join freedom or be a traveler all around; maybe he will find his brother Hound?
Nitro and Senka: The technician and his (former bandit) drunk assistant, where will they head to next?
Noah: The semi insane (atleast more than most STALKERS) man holding out in an abandoned ship waiting for the great horde of mutants to come, did he survive?
Vano: The friendly, too trusting STALKER from CoP, did he head to the bar to live out the rest of his days; did people keep taking advantage of him or did he become resentful?

Monolith:
Strider: Known to appear in STALKER 2, plays a major plot role.
Other: Former members of other factions whose fate remain unknown, did they heed the great call of the Monolith?

Anyway: Let me hear from you guys, who do you think we'll see, who do you hope we'll see? What would you want their part to be in the game? :happycthulhu:

I'd just love to see Ashot return :special:

You forgot to add Strelok, whom is expected by pretty much everybody to be involved in some way. He is THE Stalker, and so far has played a major role in all the parts of the story.

Also the Doctor is confirmed to be returning, although apparently not in his best days.

Sidorovich, although a fan favourite, may be missing even just because he may have passed away from age. (10 years have passed, and he didn't look particularly young and healthy back then.)

On the other hand, the recent trailers showed the Barkeep.

In a separate topic, I hypothesize a return of Flint, who is "presumably" dead but whose fate after CoP events we don't know with 100% certainty.

Sultan is highly likely to appear, since from the trailers it looks like bandits managed to take over the Skadovsk.

To be honest, I don't really feel attached to any of the characters in the series. I know it sounds corny, but genuinely, the Zone itself is the only character that matters to me.

That said, I'm sure they'll bring back a good bunch of old characters, and I'm fine with that.

There's only one character I would not like to see return, and that's Strelok. I feel he's had his time in the spotlight in all 3 previous games; I'd prefer it if he remained a legend in STALKER 2, being referenced in documents and talked about by other characters, but not appearing in person.

I want Wolf back, I don't care about anyone else. Wolf was a mysterious person; I always thought that he was not exactly what he told us he was. I remember that I met him near the end of Stalker: SoC and he was killed by someone or something and it blew my mind. Probably some A-Life shenanigans in unpatched game (there were some more patches later on).
In Clear Sky his model was changed to completely hide his face for whatever reason. He always whined how we want to get away from the zone and how tired he is, yet he was there. Maybe he was just out right lying about his real role. Anyway, that is the only interesting character for me.

Strelok. He was meant to be in the original version of Stalker 2 that was canceled all those years ago. His story isn't finished yet. He is the definitive Stalker of the Zone. His story in some way shape or form drove all three original games.

I thought that Strelok was going to die in the beginning, or maybe even the intro, of STALKER 2 (2011). But yeah, it would be nice to see him again even if much older.

However I heard that Strelok is already in STALKER 2 but devs *hide* him, I try to not tease myself with anything which might spoil the plot, so I can't say anything to confirm or disregard it.

I want to add some characters: Max from freedom and of course Strelok

Regardless if he's actually in the game or not, I hope he doesn't meet a bitter end, at least in what will be considered the "canon" ending. After all he did and went through, I don't want to see him being "killed by the plot" for the sake of it.

Even if he is not alive it would be cool to include him in the game somehow, like a drumstick anomaly at his gravesite or perhaps something less meme-y.

Wow, that's a long list!
