Re-downloading, starting a new game, and hoping for the best. It ran well for the first 70 hours of playing my first play-through. After that, it completely broke. FPS tanking severely, like in the single digits. Quest lines bugged so bad that I couldn't progress. I really love the gun-play and atmosphere and hope they have it all running properly.

Any advice? Should I stay away? Completely remove this game from my account? Give up playing video games altogether and devote my life as a monk searching for truth via the heart?

I don't know your system specifications, but recommend trying to play at 1080p resolution, drop most graphics settings to Medium, and use DLSS and FSR, and lock framerates on your card and the game to 60 frames per second.

I have a 4-year old Intel i9 and a RTX 3090 Strix, and run at 1080p with medium/high settings. I only get lag in a few places, like inside The Sphere, and some outside areas of Pripyat.

There are a few other threads on here to search for about trying to optimize the game.

That's just it, I have a decent rig: 32gb of RAM, amd Ryzen 7 7800X3D, and 4070ti
I was well over 100fps for my first 70 hours. With dips in town in the 70's. Up until a certain point in the story and the game literally fell apart at the seems. Questlines broken, NPC's broken, When enemies would spawn the game fps would drop to 2-5fps.

I'd give it another try if you've got the time and inclination, sounds like your rig was generally running it ok before.

First few hours of the game are pretty cool anyway.

I have no advice concerning hardware or configuration, but I would recommend delaying pissing off the Ward as long as you can stand, at least on your first run.

dont use framegen it cause more problems then stability. Only use dlss.

They fixed a lot of the broken quests..which could have caused instability for you

It's a tough choice...next patch is sometime this month..you could wait or gamble another 70 hours

I restarted my initial game after it became very unstable after a couple patches. I think old saves might not handle the patches well.

That's what I am hoping. It'll be nice to see if what was broken for me is now fixed.

I just finished the game maybe an hour ago and had no problems from start to finish, occasional dips in performance in some areas but no quest bugs, progress bugs or major glitches

a 3090 and only at 1080p at medium? Dude, I'm running at maximum at 1440p with a 3090. You should be able to achieve the same. What's your CPU/RAM/Drive?
