"Upgrading" to the Ultimate Edition

Sorry if this has been asked before, I looked and couldn't find an answer.
If I have the standar edition and buy the Ultimate Edition, will the contents of the Ultimate edition be added to my current save or do I need to start a new game to get access to them?
Also, inb4 someone says "Why not wait for the upgrade to come out so you don't have to pay more?" S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 has become an extremely important game in my life, it helped me, it still helps me to this day, to get through some bad, dark moment in my life, so I want to give something extra to the devs as a token of gratitude.

You could put the question via a support ticket to GSC Technical support. Perhaps they know the answer to your question. They seem to respond to support tickets in a short time.

The bonus items from the Deluxe/Ultimate editions may not be worth it. I have the Deluxe edition, and on my second playthrough on Veteran I only found one of the DLC bonus items useful in the early game, then stopped using them item once I could afford better armor. The other DLC items I'm just ignoring or selling.

I’m pretty sure need start a new game as they are added to part of your beginning story. And shrug I found the dlc stuff kinda useful , but admit probably better options

Haven't thought of that, I'm definitely going to do it. I have the preorder bonuses and the Turist armor was good for the mid game. But I believe you, I'll research more about the items on the deluxe and ultimate edition. Thanks

Agree, now that I'm at the endgame completing random quest and discovering locations, all my top gear is from the base game and not the preorder DLC (which is the only one I have). I think it could be fun to experiment with them, even if I just end up selling it
