Is the game fixed yet? [March 2025]
Currently playing KCD2 and was wondering what my next game will be and was looking to check out this game, but I heard it was horribly buggy on release.

Is this game in a good state as of this moment or should I play something else and give this game more time?

it ran horrible at 4k during launch on my old 3080 + 5800x3d, now I have a new rig 9800x3d and 5090, runs like a dream, I even restarted my whole playthrough, a LOT was improved since launch
I'm dealing with constant crashes in certain areas or when I've saved too many times. The crashes occurred after I had completed about 80% of the story. In the meantime, I upgraded my PC (AMD 9800x3d and RTX 5080), but the crashes still occur and the performance is still below average - and I only play on high settings!

Especially the sluggish feeling in combat is more than frustrating. I'd really like to give the game a 10 out of 10, but the crashes and sluggish gameplay ruined it for me - I give it a 6 out of 10.

Ty for answering.

I'll give this game some more time and try something else.

Hopefully game will be fixed soon.
I'm waiting least a year or at worse few years before getting it, I cut them bit of slack because of the war affecting their personal and work lives but this thing sounded like it needed more time in the oven. Most of my friends that bought are going to wait before continuing it because it is just a mess right now.

If you haven't you can always play the older games (or just replay them), and mods like Anomaly/G.A.M.M.A. are good. When it comes to the first game I recommend Autumn Aurora overhaul mod.
These devs are hopeless

Not as hopeless as some of the nay-sayers posting here :steamfacepalm:
Just push through and finish the game like i did. Bought it day one and finished it on 3/21/2025. It has issues but i was satisfied with my playthrough.

Agree with all this. Radiophobia 3 is another great SOC mod to start with maybe if u want more modernish gameplay but don’t want the bloat that Anomaly/GAMMA can be at times.

Now get out of here Stalker…

Negative. I’m waiting until S2 at least as good as vanilla SOC, let alone any of the modded games that put S2 to absolute shame.

And you put allot of money for this game that run like a garbage in many PC .
Waiting for it to work well with a 5080?
is wrong, garbage code not need a super PC.

5080 is garbage GPU bought by influencers and clout-chasers. I don't understand those who trash this game but always make excuses for Nvidia. Both have problems, so why the double standard for Nvidia?

Maybe the crashes are related to 5080's driver problems? Nvidia's released patches three times now to try to fix the black screen issues, but it's still not fixed.

Awwwwww, where did nvidia hurt you? So cringe to cry and worry about what someone else has spent their money on. You seem envious. I just swapped a 7900xtx for a 5070ti and couldn't be happier. I had nothing but driver and artifact issues w amd. 5070ti has been beautiful, smooth sailing and benches better than the xtx and the 4080s I have.
Cope.
14700K + 4080 + 64GB DDR5. Tested with both new and old stable 566 drivers, different RAM setups, BIOS updates, and manual 13th–14th gen power limit fixes. Crashes are still happening, and since the December build, things have only gotten worse — back then it was about 1 crash every 3 hours of gameplay. Now, after recent patches, it's more like 5–15 minutes per crash, except in some magical areas like Red Forest, where I somehow managed a stunning half an hour of uninterrupted gameplay.
Note: the graphics kernel isn't even mentioned in the logs, only the Stalker core and DX12.

All the crashing seems tied to UE5 and DX12. I tested a few other UE5 games — Satisfactory is probably the best example, since it was updated from UE4 to UE5. All the same problems show up: crashes on DX12, blurry and glitchy lighting thanks to Lumen, etc. That game runs perfectly fine on DX11, but S2 doesn’t even have that option.

So yeah, my guess is until the Unreal team sorts something out, most UE5 games that are DX12-only are going to have a bad time.

P.S. Haven’t tested S2 on SteamOS or Deck yet. Maybe Proton could fix some of this UE5 weirdness.
