quick question: can you silence the "hunter" rifle?

it appears to have a special muzzle which makes me doubt if i should use it over silencing a normal bolt, which should i do? im at the point where i can buy a 701 but not sure if its worth it considering i will soon get access to hunter, but if it cant be silenced i would prefer a 701.

Yes, there is a supressor that fits the .308 MK14 and M701.. I found a MK14 on a balcony in Pripyat that had a detachable supressor which I could attach to my 701. I don't know what model that ''Hunter rifle'' is? Haven't found a supressor for the SVD/SVU though.. don't think they're available at traders anyway, the .308 one I found looks like a one-off

the hunter is a model of 701, but it has a what appears to be a muzzle device pre installed

That's a muzzlebreak alright.. well, no guarantees, but when I found a supressor for my AR, which I had fitted a muzzlebreak I could attach the supressor directly.. come to think of it, the 701 I'm using also had a muzzlebreak installed, so I guess you can... just need to find it.. I believe I found that supressed MK14 when I was making my way from the Ward camp to the Laundromat in Pripyat?... not totally sure

thank you, and i know where the supressed mk14 is! but i guess we will find out, though you had attached the muzzlebreak yourself? it may have swapped them out then. this one is automatically attached and can not be removed, and you cant exactly screw a suppressor onto a muzzle break. XD

Well, I'm not sure about the Named-weapons and their compatibility to modifications.. yes, I could attach the supressor myself in my inventory-menu. I also own an M4 SOFMOD that comes equipped with it's own supressor and red-dot, while it's basically an AR416, can't transfer those items to other (calibre-whise compatible) weapons... Trial-and-error/success I guess

I haven't noticed any stealth in this game. Maybe in beginner zone with silenced pistol. After first play-through I have't even attempted any silenced weapons or stealthy moves, and I'm normally all about stealth in other games. Like Tarkov every enemy agros you instantly from 50 yards away.

you can install suppressors even if you have a muzzle device installed in the game, allegedly you still get the benefit from the muzzle device.

stealth is definetly possible, but you cant do full on never seen that easily, stealth should be quiet takedowns and such, its not longterm, and debatably irl i doubt it would be easy to sneak around in places like this. though they are definetly overtuned in this game, seeing me through thick bushes and grass when i cant see a single pixel of them XD

UPDATE:

tested it myself, it does work and seems to remove the muzzle device. do not know if that has any affect at all

further update, you keep the muzzle upgrade.

edit: but the hunter does not take the underbarreled shotgun, so its not worth in the end.
