silenced .45 pistol is actually a bit stronger in practice due to the combination of having as good/slightly better penetration, and being considered a "Higher tier" gun. And you can buy an extended mag for it in the mid map towns (I forget if it I got mine at rostok or cement town).
Short version. In order of importance for all guns, if you have stats of comparable size.
Penetration meter >>> damage meter >>> Ammo size.
Also having AP rounds equipped does not seem to move the AP stat meter.
For a highlight of damage meter and ammo type not mattering compared to on gun penetration. A double barrel ToZ with slug rounds is still a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ joke, compared to buckshot in a 2 pen pump action.
Meanwhile, a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ viper SMG with standard ammo can actually kill a flesh before needing to reload.

Only reason I keep Skif around aside from it being a ques item, is keeping it loaded with AP so if a burer gets lucky and no-clips my real gun out of bounds/halfway through something and it won't let me pick it up, I just sigh, reload, and spam three mags or so of AP 9x18 at every burer in the room for a while.
If you fall for "Skif pistol is OP!" you are in for a rough time.
Scroll down a bit and he has a link to an updated spreadsheet in one of the comments.

At the bottom of that spreadsheet, above the ammo-type table, you'll find two lines (112 to 114) detailing what silencers do to your gun and what the game doesn't tell you in the stats yet often does in the gun or attachment's description, if vaguelly.
The ingame stat UI is deceiving, don't trust it.
Due to dropoff/flatness stuff a gun with a worse range can be better at shooting things at range than a gun with longer range. if it is allowed to have more spread reduction, it can be more accurate than a gun with a higher accuracy stat overall, etc.
I knew the in-game stats are not accurate... I called it!
