The Kharod is 5.56 and those all seemed to not be worth using extensively in my gameplay. I liked the one sniper from the Zaton mission but beyond that I stuck with shotguns and 5.45.
I was able to find a kharod very early in my play through and purposely re chambered it in 5.45 as I found, at least for me, that 5.45 is so much more abundant early to mid game vs 5.56 ammo. Plus I purposely had next to zero upgrades early on to limit repair costs. And I made a sh@t ton of trips to Rostok to sell Ragman a lot of red weapons
In general, i found little to no use for non DMR/sniper rifles.
Then you find a 9mm Zubar and realize its more powerful than 90% of the ARs in the game and wonder what the devs were smoking.
Later in my play throughs, I started using Whip/ SVU MkS-3 exclusively on armored enemies like monolith. That whip is also pretty d*mn effective on granite special forces enemies.. 2 dome shots on average on stalker difficulty.
But now that they buffed the H3LLLLLL outta the Guass Rifle in patch 1.1, nothing compares as far as raw blistering power is concerned lol. Can't complain over that buff as it was just last week I did a play through of Call of Pripyat and was able to kill a CHIMERA with A SINGLE SHOT from the gauss rifle.
In the old games the plot armor was called bullet hit register and some of your shots literally wouldn't count. Didn't make the game any harder you just had to chew thru more ammo until you landed enough.
well, I downed him with my kharod, moved up the guard tower and he was not dead but in the wounded animation. he got up eventually without me doing anything and started shooting at me again. dumped some shotgun shells into his head and he fell down to his wounded stance again. I tried to finish him with some more headshots but it didn't work at all.
so I lost interest and moved on.
If so, almost all of the Monolith snipers in those towers around Duga are invincible until after the Faust mission (some of them can be killed, but I think this is a bug) and then only a couple of them are invincible but I think that might be a bug. They can also one-shot you if you give them chance to line up.
This game has a lot of hard walls to prevent you from progress through areas/buildings/sections that are plot-related.
Yes found this out the hard way with some anomalies and trying to chill with my ward bros only they refuse to recognize my badge.
That's precisely where I was at. I forget the name of the mission, but I sided with Scar for that particular play through. It was the mission where I was to help clear out the corner in that area just prior to destroying those 2 psi lanterns and see those "psi-duplicates" of Faust for the first time.
Else it only makes for a great mutant killer. Its ammo is too rare and i'd rather shoot twice and with a decent RoF.
