Now that gigantic squads spawn, if you get caught by surprise, which is always unless it’s daytime, then it’s time to load
Other times I get the drop on a squad but because I play with no hud I can’t tell who’s friendly or not meaning my only way to engage is flash my torch. If I get instantly buckshot sniped then I know I should have started lining up headshots instead
Yea this... Its a major problem.
Those lil mini militia groups of 5-7 soldiers are OP, at night/rain or deep foliage, broken! Completely not worth interaction.
I'm at the point in the game where most of these mini militia groups have 2 or 3 exo-geared dudes with Kharods / SP37 or RAM shotguns.
Its just too much, no hope and repair bill for getting pelted will be unnecessarily high therefore I run away and reload the game.
This is NOT HOW I WANT TO PLAY THIS GAME.
You're not headshotting exo suit dudes... Sorry, they will get stunned once, then bob and weave and shoot-back messing up your aim, while EVERYONE else is ALSO shooting at you, messing up your ADS/AIM... Its a broken interaction.
Dudes in lesser zone without armor/gear, sure, single headshots work - Its not ideal but it works.
This strategy is no-longer valid after you progress the story enough 10 hours after SIRCAA quests etc.
Aside from the very infrequent bandit groups, ALL other human patrols now come packing sniper rifles, RPKs, and exosuits. Monolith groups ALWAYS have a railgunner, Merc groups always spam grenades, and there are always at least two RPKs in a Ward squad. Its always groups of 6 or more, they're always laser accurate, spot/hear me from miles away, can see and shoot through obstacles, are spongy forcing headshots every time, have infinite grenades, and apparently all have armour piercing ammo the way they shred my armour.
Coupled with the terrible stamina system, the terrible durability system, the unresponsive controls, the slow/long animation sequences for reloading/healing, the dodgy hit detection, the weirdly clunky feeling and slow weapon swapping, and the broken spawning, it just becomes frustrating to play past a certain point.
I will always play a STALKER game through vanilla the first time. I've played the first and third games through in vanilla repeatedly, and done Clear Sky vanilla twice. I won't be playing this vanilla more than this first run through.
This could be an issue. I did the main quest first and got a save point before the end. I play now from that to roundup. Perhaps I should restart.
I am set to "Stalker" difficulty. You do know that (in these games) setting extreme difficulty turns on stuff like that, right?
I stumbled in to what is apparently Monolith's base in Pripyat (the apartment block next to the place where you find the Ward squad) and it was just plane absurd.
Getting from one end of the building to the other, I genuinely killed more than 60 Monolithians. I killed another 30 walking back and forth collecting all the loot because a couple of new 4 man squads will have always spawned in on the opposite end of the building to me while I were walking through. I eventually had to stop essentially farming this broken spawn area because - I assume - the sheer number of corpses led to my first crash, which was likely a result of the game loading all the corpses in to walls and floors as I walked back in to their proximity. One of the corridors looked like those flashbacks in Event Horizon with gore and bodies and limbs hanging out of every surface.
And you know what really made it ridiculous? How every time I exited the apartments to put loot in my stash, I ran in to the same five groups of enemies/NPCs without fail:
* A pack of blind dogs
* A pack of rats
* A Psi-pseudodog
* A Monolith patrol
* A friendly NPC patrol
Every. Single. Time. The walk from the building to the stash is 30m/40m, but still the game would spawn stuff in as if I had left the area completely and then come back.
And that was just getting the loot out of the building. Getting from my stash back to the Culture centre to sell it took a half dozen trips, during each of which the game spawned the following in the exact same spots:
* A Psi-pseudodog just around the corner from the stash
* A random patrol in the exact same alley
* One of those mental cat things in the same department store
* A Monolith Gauss Sniper in the same apartment window
* An enemy squad just across the concourse from the Culture building always fighting a group of rats or dogs
Every. Single. Time. The same exact spawns, in the same exact places, with only the number and varieties of gear differing for the human enemies from run to run - and the run is only something like 700m.
So broken and not even in an amusing "STALKER is so broken" way.
