This Game Is Way More Scary With Music Off
Not to discredit the work and value of the music and ambiance, but during the small pauses in between, I noticed the noises of the zone to be rather beautiful and atmospheric, sometimes being overshadowed by the sheer volume of the music.
I turned the music to zero as a test and I was treated by a rich atmosphere of birds, insects, wind, and foliage rustling.
As I played, I lost myself in the experience and voted against returning the music.
As a result, the zone has become much more rich as I can clearly hear the reality around me. Beautiful moments are accentuated. But the environment has become so much more terrifying.

I've always played games with the music off for exactly the reason you found... the environment has so much going on that the music covers up and makes it more intense and real.

I was roaming around and heard a cuckoo bird. I looked at the clock and it was some oddball time and thought why was my cuckoo clock making noise now? Then heard it again a short time later and realized it was in the game. Can't remember where that was, probably Lesser Zone or Cordon. Or somewhere else. Its off in the distance and not really loud.

The radios in the game are nice. I kinda wish they'd stick the song from the bandit radio in Garbage (Clear Sky) in rotation.

Can also hear the anomalies as you walk near them. Frankly, that's enough reason to leave the game music off, so can have more warning on wandering around those things.

Just turn the music down or OFF. Simple.

Does it cancel the annoying Sidorovich's music that you can't turn off?

I turned the music off and its way way better and inmersive. The wierd and annoying ambent soises are gone. Only hear the environment, grass, trees, barks at the distance, some shots fired, wind and I love it.

Haven't even noticed any music in this game other than the main menu and the radios.

Turning the music off does not turn of the music from radios.

The very first thing I did when I fired this game up was to turn off the music. The audio clues from the environment are so much more immersive this way.

The combat music feels like generic "add tension" kind of music which is unfortunate. Beyond that I haven't really found that the music gets in the way, but I'll definitely try with it off
