NVidia app optimization joke

Nvidia app recommends strange optimization:
- plugged-in: almost all are set to "Low", but slider is closer to Quality (70% I would say)
- on battery: almost all recommended values are "Epic", but slider is closer to Battery side (30%).

Nvidia is a joke. I remember when they hyped up the RTX 4090. So I was a chump and got one. And can't even play this game smoothly without upscaling.

TBF that is not nvidia's fault. Stalker 2 has pathetic optimization.

Where did you get Nvidia optimization for the game? There's no profile for it. If you add it manually it says there are no optimizations for this game.

You should never use their “optimizations”, fine tune all settings according to your own preferences and tests / benchmarks by sites like Digital Foundry and Hardware Unboxed.

BTW the latest version has a bug, you are losing 3-7% FPS unless you disable “Game filters and photo mode” in Settings; tested by Hardware Unboxed for different games.

I uninstalled GeForce Experience because it kept bugging me to install that app every time I wanted to check for a driver update. Pretty sure my performance improved after getting rid of it plus disabling the Steam overlay as well.

The Steam overlay is actually very game friendly. You should have no issues leaving Steam overlay on. Just disable all that Nvidia overlay BS.

Never use GeForce Experience or Nvidia App to optimize your games, this should be common knowledge at this point, the programs simply doesnt take into consideration what CPU you have, RAM or MB, it just bases the tuning, loosly, on the GPU.

Tweak your own settings ingame, ALWAYS. Start at Ultra, and go down from there, until you hit the 60fps baseline, then apply Fg if you are into that stuff.

Nvidia App and Steam Overlay can cause problems. Disable them.

I do agree in part. I always manually adjust game settings myself.

But the new Nvidia app does indeed factor in your whole PC specifications. There's even a page in the Nvidia app that lists all your system specs. The old GeForce experience however did no such thing. So they have improved in this regard.

In my experience, it's not always so friendly. Turned out it also was causing a crash if I tried to use snipping tool to take screenshots of the game, I think it in fact caused some other crashes I saw too. It's also not the first game it's been problematic with.

I’ve never installed GeForce Experience because it’s a bloatware. But I have the Nvidia app installed for a single reason, to inject HDR in games that don’t support it, like Black Myth Wukong. RTX HDR is much better than the Windows auto-HDR, otherwise I would never touch the app.
