I went into STC Malachite, and confirmed I had the issue. I then stepped outside, and I threw everything I had on the floor. All backpack items, all weapons, all armour, and all artifiacts.
I went into my inventory, and I still had the issue. I then walked further outside the base until I found the exact distance where the problem would come, and go. I then noticed a glow on the ground, and the artifacts I had dropped were now at my feet several hundred meters away from where I left them!
I picked them all up, went into my inventory, and the issue had stopped. I moved further into the base to confirm, and it had stopped. That was when the emission hit, and I couldn't complete my tests, so I will need to repeat, and nail down just what needs to happen for the issue to go away.
Yes, it does seem tied to dropping the artifacts on the belt to the inventory, then to the floor, then picking them back up again. Unfortunately putting them back on the belt again makes the problem come back. :-(
It's not picking them up that stops it, its proximity to them on the floor! This is weird. If I stand next to the 5 artifacts on the ground the clicking stops. If I move away from them the clicking starts.
I went down in the lift, had the little conversation, and at its end the clicking had stopped, at least so far.
