Radiophobia 3 mod for STALKER SoC if you're dissappointed with this game
A mod for the original STALKER 1 is availabe on ModDB. It overhauls the graphics while still staying true to the main quest and simply adds some missing sidequests. But it looks much better (maybe not as good as STALKER 2) and has an improved A-Life system. https://www.moddb.com/mods/radiophobia

I tried it, v 1.18 and yea it's enjoyable but I find it harder than the original with the same difficulty level.

The starter guns are always gonna suck. From a video review that someone did, they say it actually gets easier later on, since you'll have more money and equipment than you'll know what to do with. But yeah, it is meant to be a bit harder, since I think they made the later guns better. But you can get any stalker (except higher level ones until you get higher rep) to follow you. Up to 2 stalkers at once. I'm certainly finding it a bit easier actually than vanilla if only because the starter guns aren't sucking as bad (they're at least hitting the enemies, as opposed to being slightly "RNG" before).

The first hour of that mod is rough and needs serious polish. If you get through that it's pretty great. Have played through the Cordon part so far.

Didn't know you could get someone to follow you. Yea the first two quests were a bit tough.

I left off after trying to find the guy that set the one dude up where he's not allowed in Wolf's camp.

Teleported somewhere and was on my way back when an emission kept happening and I had nowhere to go.

Was gonna try again to get through it but then patch 1.1 came out for stalker 2.

Actually GSC said they are remastering the original games so I'll wait to see how those turn out.

Mandalore.

BUt yeah the early guns are a bit poopy. at east the handgun you start with is. I think its the recoil animation mainly mentally messing with people. as the recoil animation feels cartoonish. If you're assaulting the car park. Hope one of the guys helping dies and you can grab their AK. Its doable solo. just get used to grabbing guns off bodies

is that another terribly bugged mod so that you waste hours and then everything is broken and can´t progress??
because so far every acclaimed stalker mod I tried ended up like that.
god I wish somewhere someone would actually make a mod that is not a bugfest and you can play from beginning to the end without thousand crashes and issues lol

I did try various mods but found them more trouble than they were worth. My play throughs of the original games were always done on vanilla. To be fair I found them all decent games but nothing special. Even the mythical a-life was always buggy and didn’t convey any real sense of a living zone that I cared about. I think the problem was they were always so bugged and janky with terrible UI, AI and dialogue.

To be brutally honest even after all these years of modding and patching the original games are janky bugged messes.

I'm personally not a fan of the new "start" they put in, where you get sent to the anomaly practice course, then have to run to give that guy a medkit - and if you walk thru the village before the faction changes you get suddenly shot. There should be a warning at least (no - "they won't welcome you" is not a warning that you will get shot on the spot). Then you get told to talk to Sidorovich, but he doesn't talk to you - you have to get the artifact first, etc. They take your detector away again, too. The additional NPCs give you missions which are basically mandatory to even get things like a dosimeter. Basic mutants are super deadly, too. They let you crawl through the mines at the checkpoint twice very early... I understand what they are trying to do here, but imo it doesn't work well. Anyway, once I got past that stage, it was fine - and I appreciated the gunplay, the graphics, and other things.

Yea I realized they took the detector away. I was watching someone do a playthrough of it on YouTube and the guy got a silenced pistol from wolf and a shotgun. I didn’t get that in my version. There’s actually 2 anamolies in the practice course area and I ended up getting both but took me a while. If it wasn’t for that emission that kept occurring on my way back from that area where you are teleported, I would have probably kept playing. It would be cool if there was version of this mod but with the original vanilla difficulty.

I've started this to refresh SoC after running out of patience with S2 and its watered down or missing features over the trilogy and it seems great so far. Graphics are sure not as good but still solid. Has many goodies i looked for in S2 like:

- Seperate combat and economy difficulty options
- NPC render distance that is not a petty 90 meters (= useful sniper rifles)
- Target identification
- Zero mouse lag
- Grass height adjustment in options
- Crosshair distance
- 3d PDA
- Better ultrawide support than the 2025 Stalker 2 and text size adjusting
- Auto unload collected weapons
- Encyclopedia and stats
- Followers...

Been playing this mod ever since I couldn’t get GAMMA to work for the life of me and Anomaly eventually killed itself lol. It’s so refreshing not having to fiddle with 100s or dozens of mods like in GAMMA/Anomaly. Or a million little settings.

Just plug and play. Other than me wanting to add more weight limit in the files, and removing quest item weight, 0 fiddling. And once in done with R3 I’m going to Gunslinger. Can’t wait

Maybe one day Stalker 2 won’t be undercooked (not even NVG or cutting up mutants? For Real? Damn)

Radiophobia is pretty solid. The new quests really make it better, more like an rpg

This latest installation of GAMMA was a pain in the ass, it took me a while to manage to make it work, had to download 10gb of plugins and another launcher, because the one on the main channel was ♥♥♥♥♥♥.
