Patch 1.1.1 Crashing on Shader Compilation / Out of Video Memory
Anybody got a solution? I know this issue existed since 1.0 however it wasn't happening as often. Now since I have patched the game to newest version, I can't get past the shader compilation screen, it either crashes with UE engine crash report or "out of video memory" message comes up and it crashes upon hitting "ok" button. I have reinstalled the game, restarted PC , no mods. Whats going on?

Are you an AMD user? CPU? GPU?

It's weird, it was working fine at first. Then they released 1.1.1 and now I'm crashing lol.

Since 1.1.1 I've been stuck on shader compilation for the first time. Sure, it used to take 10 minutes, but now after 20 minutes it's standing still at ~40%. Not your exact issue, but shader compilation does appear to be (more) of a problem now. :steamfacepalm:

"--Out Of Memory when Loading (Intel 13th/14th generation CPU’s)--
We have identified an issue on some Intel 13th/14th generation CPU’s where upon startup the game will display a message about being out of video memory or the crash reporter will pop up referencing an issue with decompressing a shader. If you experience this problem, you will likely also see it in other DX12 games.

If your CPU is overclocked, try setting it back to the defaults. If you’re not overclocked or that doesn’t work, try installing Intel Extreme Tuning Utility:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/17881/intel-extreme-tuning-utility-intel-xtu.html and lowering your “Performance Core Ratio” from 55x to 54x."

I tried a bunch of things but this is what finally fixed it for me. I went to:

SteamLibrary/steamapps/shadercache

and deleted all the folders in there. It took a while to recompile all the shaders again but it worked and I finally got to the main menu.

If the game was working properly before the patch and now it doesn't work, it's not a problem with your PC, but with the patch. The optimization of this product could be greatly improved.

Mine is crashing with an AMD RX 6600. I have to terminate the process in task managers and restart, seems to happen always now.

As above as Wurm65 said could be a likely issue, I'm running AMD CPU with an NVIDIA GC and haven't had an issue but remember years ago had issues with Intel and the Mobo it was on that was a Gigabyte and Battlefield 4 just would not play, got past the intro with the Total Eclipse of the Heart and after that ZAP PC shutdown, was never fixed by Gigabyte on that mobo but it shows things funny can happen with different setups, Hope it works out for you OP

Same GPU here, did you get past the shader screen?

I am also not getting past the Compiling Shaders screen. Sometimes freezes, and sometimes just stays in the same progression spot. Have a RX6600.

I'm stuck about 1/2 way through the shader compilation, just like before, I see it gets worse with every patch!

Thank you for this, this worked for me in resolving the issue.

I found a solution (online) that works for me. All the below steps are either reversible or non-intrusive, but try at your own risk.

When starting up, it seems like you start up for the first time, but your save games are still there. So no worries.

1. Delete Direct X cache. In Windows, go to "Storage Settings". Go to "Temporary Files. In here, untick everything, except "Direct X Shader Cache";

2. In the folder "SteamLibrary" (main folder, in whatever drive you allocated for the game files) got to subfolder "steamapps\shadercache" and delete/move/rename all the folders (I moved them to a backup folder).

3. In your user folder (c:\users\yourname) go to subfolder "AppData\Local\Stalker2\Saved".
Rename/move/delete the folder "GameSettings"
In subfolder "Config", rename/move/delete the folder "Windows".
These folders will be re-created when the game starts.

I can't get past "Compiling shaders" part. I get this error message : LowLevelFatalError [File:D:\STALKER2\s2editor\Engine\Source\Runtime\RenderCore\Private\RenderingThread.cpp] [Line: 1273] GameThread timed out waiting for RenderThread after 120.00 secs.

My cpu is Ryzen 7 7700X and gpu is Radeon RX 7600 XT

Windows Tools -> Disk Cleanup -> Clean DirectX Shader Cache and restart Stalker
