Game Crashes While Compiling Shaders After 1.1 Update
I've seen other discussion posts surrounding this topic with similar issues and hopefully this thread can serve to aid others in a similar situation. Most in response to other posts say verify your files, don't use mods, or disable any optimization programs. I verified my files multiple times before and after several re-downloads of the game. I do no have any mods installed nor a mod folder and I do not have any optimization programs active as I turned the one I had off.

I even went as far as a manual file wipe in the game folder but after using every thinkable method including going to my local app data to clear my shader cache, it did not work. I did see however others saying to clear the shader cache for NVIDIA in this case in local low however I do not have anything of the sort there on my end, although others may have it themselves so it's a possibility.

I am open to ideas to solve this so if anyone wants to discuss this, please do at your earliest convenience.

+!

I feel that I should also mention that I did attempt to use the optimization program I had used prior to the update to help, even relying on NVIDIA's auto-optimization but that did not seem to do anything either. Multiple restarts of both Steam and my PC itself separately did nothing either unfortunately.

Do you have an AMD cpu? Apparently, it looks like its affecting some people with AMDs and no one with Intels...

AMD CPU, NVIDIA GPU. Freezes while compiling shaders at different times. Eventually it works after restarting it for like 5 times

should add too that clearing the directX cache doesn't work. Went from crash on save game loading to crash on shader compiling

Problems here too, try to lauchn the game around 20 times. 17 times the game never launched and get stuck on shader compilation screen forever. 3 times the game launched but crashed after a few minutes. Tried to veryfie the files or clear the shaders. It worked, but game crashed after 2 minutes and the shader problem was back.

Am very gratefull for the patch with represent an enormous amount of work, but on my side the game is litteraly broken :(

I use an AMD graphics card, and this solution worked for me:

1. Press the Windows key + I to open Settings and navigate to System > Storage > Temporary files.
2. Check the box for DirectX Shader Cache and remove it.
3. Restart your PC.

If the game crashes or gets stuck at Compiling Shaders, try launching it again. It worked for me on the third attempt. I hope this helps.

I have the same problem, and it doesn't matter whether it's a local installation or GeForce No, shaders don't compile, you can wait tens of minutes, the game doesn't load.

Switching to power saving mode in the Windows control panel worked for me.
